Emmanuel EminekeWe are only in mid-October and the January transfer rumours are beginning to emerge.

Arsenal have been struck with a number of injuries already and Arsene Wenger may need to delve into the winter transfer market to bolster his side for the second half of the season.

And reports in Turkey suggest that the Gunners are prepared to battle Spurs to sign Fenerbahce’s Emmanuel Emenike.

The Nigerian forward joined the Turkish outfit back in summer 2013 and has scored 13 goals in 32 league matches for his side.

The 27-year-old’s form for club and country has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs and, according to Turkish newspaper Skorer, Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the Nigeria international.

With Olivier Giroud out until the New Year and Lukas Podolski out-of-favour, Danny Welbeck now carries the goal burden for Wenger, which may be a cause for concern for the Frenchman.

Emenike is rated at around £15 million and although he still has three years remaining on his current deal, Fenerbahce are bracing themselves for January bids.
