Why this midfield partnership doesn’t work

Wilshere RamseyThis season so far, we have seen Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere play alongside each other in midfield, but I’m sorry, this partnership just simply does not work.

They are both very similar players, and when they play in the same team it seems to cause a lot of confusion in midfield.

Arsene Wenger has, since his arrival, always maintained a balanced midfield. For example, the Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit partnership was a thing of beauty, as both players knew when to push forward and when to sit back – it was almost as if they were telepathic and knew what one another was going to do. As a result, it was a partnership that worked brilliantly and one which managed to win the Gunners a few trophies over the years.

Now let’s fast forward to our current midfield. Mikel Arteta is the one that sits and protects the back four, with Ramsey and Wilshere ahead of him. But for some strange reason, the Welsh and Englishman don’t look on the same page.

For me, it reminds me a lot of the Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard days when the two were playing for England a few years back, neither knew what their role was, and it seems the same for Ramsey and Wilshere this season.

In my opinion, Ramsey is more effective and influential going forward than he is going back and possibly the same could be same for Wilshere, as he has great technical ability, but they need to find that balance that when one pushes forward the other takes a back seat. Not only will it expose a massive hole in our midfield when opposing teams get possession but they seem to get in each others way.

I believe Wilshere needs to be the one of the two that is more cautious in his approach, as he likes to get stuck in and break up play in midfield, while Ramsey, due to his ability to find the back of the net, should be the one being told to go forward a lot more.

In the games they have played together so far this season, it just hasn’t worked and the midfield has suffered as a result. It’s still early doors yet but they and indeed Wenger need to fix this and find that balancing act that will work a treat throughout the campaign.

Yes you are right. I also think wenger should talk sense into ozil head, he’s a kind of lazy man, he doesn’t attack or mark the opponent, all he does is the distribution of passes which are been wasted at times. To be successful in england u need everything.

You are true i also thing of that my brother

It is not Ozil’s fault his passes go to players that don’t know what to do with the ball when then get in the box so instead one touch putting the ball in the back of the net they pass it backward or try to flick it to no one. had it been Aguero, ,Jovetic,or Negredo or his German team mates on the national team Muller, Gómez, or Klose on the end they would score goals at the end of one pass from Ozil. Ozil’s strength is in setting up players but he creates opportunities but a opportunity for the wrong player is a waste. And Arsenal have a abundance of WRONG players. Ozil thrives on the national team because his team is a machine that does the defensive work and when his slide rule pass provides the opportunity they have the quality to take it.

Yes ozil n sanogo are lazy and confused.

Mostly, asene Wenger I think carries 70 percent of our club problems and not the players as we all see it.
We are all aware of ozil creativity in the meddle of the field but what did we see against Everton !!! .Tactically we lost the game before the blast of whistle but thanks to santi’s brilliance, we use to play as a Unit why now?
We are failing as a club but all is not lost yet, still time to improve our squad or foreget it against the big guns why say this, make a simple assessment of the top 6 clubs battling for the grand title and see if our strike force .

Yah, arsenal still play like amateur, leaving defence always. Yes defender is urgently required. Per martesakwer could not run fast in case of counter attack. A physically fit defender is quite needed. Tans

We need a worldwide striker and someone in the mould og Luiz Gustavo, otherwise, we’ll see the same mistakes over and over again…

The problem is that the way the team is shaped our players can’t get the best out of them.wenger muat stop playing ozil and cazorla on the left.they are creative players good offensively but both poor defensively.
    Szczesny
    Debuchy mert boss gibbs

    Ramsey wilshere

    Ozil(cazorla)
    Chambo(walcott) sanchez
    Giroud

    • Luke says:

Jack and Ox have yet to win their place. Debuchy, BFG, Koz, Gibbs, Ramsey, Diaby (Arteta), Özil, Santi, Sanchez, Poldi (Campbell), Theo, should be the logical starting line up. When one, outside the back four, is changed, the formation changes, but that depends on the game. Otherwise, this is technically and tactically the best bunch of individuals we have.

    I agree completely.

Sorry Wilshere is the one that needs to sit the bench not play deep sure he gets stuck in only to draw a card his tackling ability is awfully. and he seems to be allergic to shooting or even under stand why you dribble the ball and why you pass it and when to shoot he dribbles into trouble loses the ball then dives in to try to win it back getting him self hurt and getting card. he’s bullied off the ball like a teenager in a mans game. He is NOT good enough (at the moment anyway) I have no I idea what Arsenal and Wenger specifically see in half the players in this squad. while Chelsea, City, Liverpool have (or at least try to) bring in quality proven players Arsenal keeps going on season after season with the the same players that were not good enough or can not stay fit season after season. It is fools hope every season one season it is hope Walcott will finally have his breakout season the next Wilshere will finally fill Cesc’s boots and always the next french Striker will be the next Henry. While he REAL Cesc Fabergas a player Arsenal had first refusal is playing 10 times better at Chelsea next to Oscar and Hazard. as Nasri and Clichy won their second title at City the club that we let Kolo toure go to which all but guaranteed that his brother Yaya would go to City as well Of course Cheap Arsenal won’t spend to get a player like Yaya toure anyway instead they would rather pay Diaby to site on the bench for 3 seasons to play 2 games then be out yet again. I just can’t understand HOW Wenger can possibly think he has title contenders. If you can come back and score 2 like that Vs Everton how about NOT letting them get 2 up on us in the first place. it was easy for Lukaku to get past our midfield sure Steven Naismith was offside but the play that lead up to Coleman’s goal was just a Joke. the only bright sport so far this week is that Liverpool is having a bit of sophomore blues but you could see Rogers was actually thinking about what he needed o change to get better while wenger just sat their with a sour look on his face as we had to watch more of the same weak defensive play in midfield I do no plane the full backs or the young Calum Chambers it was not their fault. This squad is too SMALL and I do not mean in the number of players but their strength and quality. Ramsey has done good enough to be a Squad player at City or Chelsea but even though he had been one of our best players he is not as good as Hazard or Oscar or Cesc fabergas. And Flamini is ok but he is no Yaya toure. in fact he is no Matic EVERYONE knows exactly what Arsenal need but no one at Arsenal seems to be wiling to cut the dead wood out of some fear that hey will be selling the next great hope. Who cares if Wilshere someday is England’s greatest midfielder if you spend the money to get THE BEST PLAYER NOW. other teams sell proven greats that simply are not fitting in to their plans Arsenal hangs on to hopefuls and injury cases for years wit their salaries taking money that could go to pay proven players that are in form NOW. YOU DO NOT PLAY OUT OF FORM PLAYERS YOU BENCH THEM or if they are out of form too long you sell them. there are at least 50 players as good as wilshere and DIABY I could see if it was say Essien in his prime we were waiting for to return from injury or even Steven Gerrard but he has never actually been world class before the injury so why hold him instead of cutting the dead wood and bringing in a fit proven player? this team has gone off the rails a long time ago. SURE I love great passing and possession when it is done on a team that has the players to make it work. we fail to break down quality teams or tough defenses because Arsenal does not have the players to make it work. unless the opposition is severely inferior. This squad needs a face lift and we have very few days left or we will be forced to make do with what we have. and frankly even though I will always HOPE and say PLEASE let me be wrong prove me wrong Wilshere show me the Hype was real. But sadly I seem to get let down every time
