Why, oh why, Wenger

Nikola ZigicI don’t know whether this is a wind up or not, but Arsenal are supposedly looking to bring in Nikola Zigic with Olivier Giroud out for of action for a few months.

Arsene Wenger wasn’t looking to sign a new striker this summer, but with Giroud sidelined until possibly the New Year, the Frenchman may be forced to rethink the matter.

Several forward shave been linked as a result, with Loic Remy, Edinson Cavani and Danny Welbeck all on the list.

However, shockingly, Wenger has made a move for Zigic!

Having left Birmingham in July when his contract expired, the 6’8’’ Serbian is a free agent.

Reports in Serbia, according to the Daily Mail, suggest Zigic, who will turn 34 next month, is due to travel to London for a medical ahead of signing a one-year deal at the Emirates.

The striker’s agent had this to say on the matter:

Wenger called me on Tuesday and stressed his desire to sign Zigic.

‘He was offered a contract until the end of the year, with a view to it being extended to 2015 – we’ll see what happens.’

If this proves to be true then I will be deeply upset and frustrated at the same time with Wenger.

Clearly the Frenchman has chosen to go with the cheap option rather than sign a top striker which we all want to see happen before deadline day.

I’m actually flabbergasted and stunned with this one, and REALLY hope this move doesn’t transpire.
