Who’d be in your Arsenal XI to take on Crystal Palace?

Arsene WengerIt’s finally upon us, and for many of us, life once again has meaning as the Premier League season gets underway.

Arsenal open their campaign at home to newly managerless Crystal Palace, and many things are expected of the Gunners this season from fans and pundits alike due to the new additions of Alexis Sanchez, Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy added to a more experienced and technical squad.

Arsene Wenger’s side will be hot favourites for tomorrow’s clash and should get their first three points of the season up on the board.

But with the new faces coming in and a number leaving either on a free or a fee, many wonder how Wenger will accommodate the array of talent he has at his disposal this season.

Laurent Koscielny has a 50/50 chance of starting tomorrow’s game after suffering from an Achilles problem, while Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski are still on a break. Meanwhile, David Ospina is still out and Theo Walcott and Serge Gnabry continue their recovery from their respective knee injuries.

So with all of this in mind, what should our starting XI be against CrystalPalace?

Well here is how I would like to see the team set-up:

Szczesny

Debuchy          Chambers         Monreal         Gibbs

Wilshere         Arteta

Chamberlain         Ramsey         Cazorla

Alexis

Nacho Monreal has featured in the centre-back position during pre-season and although it isn’t his natural position, the Spaniard will more than likely play in that role should Koscielny be unavailable.

I would go with speed and power in midfield and upfront, hence why I stuck Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right and Alexis upfront instead of the heavy-footed Olivier Giroud.

Aaron Ramsey is a no-brainer, while Santi Cazorla would play on the left and Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere behind the Welshman.

This line-up may look similar to Wenger’s tomorrow, but I reckon the Frenchman will either put Yaya Sanogo or Giroud Upfront and Alexis on the right wing.
