Arsene WengerArsene Wenger says Olivier Giroud will be out for months after suffering an ankle injury he picked up during Arsenal’s dramatic 2-2 draw with Everton last Saturday.

Prior to this, Wenger dropped a big hint that he wouldn’t be bringing in a new forward as he has many options at his disposal.

But with Giroud out for months (reportedly three), Wenger may be forced to alter his decision on signing a new forward before the window closes next week.

Wenger only has the inexperienced duo of Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell, and while Alexis Sanchez remains another option, the Chilean has struggled to adapt to the lone striker role since joining the club this summer. Lukas Podolski can also play in the centre-forward position, but has failed to make an impact when called upon, and Theo Walcott is still on the mend.

So what should Wenger do?

Should the Frenchman bring in a forward before the transfer window close or should he gamble with what he’s got until the Christmas?

Personally, it’s a risk to big to take as we all know the fixture pile up leading towards and during the Christmas period.

So if he is to sign a new striker, who should he attempt to bring in?

Well there are several options out there, with Loic Remy, Edinson Cavani, Danny Welbeck, Fernando Torres and Wilfried Bony all being linked.

Well I posed the question on Twitter earlier today and this is what several of my followers had to say on the subject:

‘out of those? assuming all are “realistic”? #bony: proven in prem, good all rounder’ – @NorthbankNick

‘Well not Welbeck anyway. He’s a marginally better Sanogo at best’ – @A_Guy-Called

‘cavani 1st choice bet we get remy or welbeck tho’ – @Ba5ov1c

The dream choice, due to his reputation and ability, is Cavani. The Uruguayan, for me, would be the perfect signing for the club, but will cost a gargantuan amount of cash to reel in. And because of this I can’t see Wenger making a move for him in the upcoming days.

Torres would be a wise move to take. Yes he has struggled to hit the ground running at Chelsea but with the players we have behind him I reckon we would see the best of the Spaniard at Arsenal. Then again, would Jose Mourinho sell him to us? Highly doubt it.

Welbeck is a no-no for me – I just don’t think he is that good really, while Remy would do a decent job for us and is perhaps top of Wenger’s list as he is a Frenchman.

But I think the best and most realistic option out of the lot would be Bony. The guy is strong, powerful, is great in the air and already possesses Premier League experience. Swansea are asking for £19-20 million for the Ivorian and that, in my opinion, represents good value for money. The guy would excel under Wenger, and with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Sanchez feeding him the 25-year-old would certainly find the back of the net.

Let us know who you think Wenger should bring in out of the five strikers mentioned below in the comments section
