The FIVE things I learnt from our 1-1 draw with Leicester City

arsenal Having watched the disappointing 1-1 draw against Leicester City earlier, here are the FIVE things I learnt from the game:

1. Ozil is wasted on the wing

I don’t care what anyone tells me, but Mesut Ozil is simply not a winger, nor is he effective in this position. The German maestro is known for his incisive passing and creativity, not tracking back or even his speed, so it frustrates me to see him play in this role that clearly isn’t suited to him. He needs to be playing through the middle behind the striker to show what he is truly capable of because as long as he is being played out wide we will never see this and he will continue to receive criticism from the fans and the media.

2. We need to sign a lethal striker

Arsenal desperately need to sign a quality forward before tomorrow’s deadline. Yaya Sanogo cannot be relied on as he has not scored in 17 Premier League games. Joel Campbell is obviously not trusted by Wenger and Lukas Podolski is clearly not in the Frenchman’s thoughts either. This trio will not get you goals regularly and Wenger and the board need to get someone like Edinson Cavani or Radamel Falcao before the window shuts, otherwise we could be left disappointed come the end of the season.

3. Still no clean sheet

Despite keeping two cleansheets against Besiktas, both home and away, we have no been able to keep the doors shut in the Premier League. We conceded one against Palace in the opening game, two against Everton last weekend and one today. This needs to be rectified, and quickly.

4. Alexis is hungry for it

The Chilean has got bags of energy, runs up and down and quite frankly puts others around him to shame. It’s great to see and it needs to rub off on others.

5. Wenger left it late

Arsene Wenger decided to call upon Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to change the game but left it til’ the 77th minute to do so. The Frenchman should have changed it early and perhaps we would have got all three points instead of one.

And the sixth reason is the past-his-sell-by-date; the stale and mouldy version 0.0 that is Arsene Wenger.

I really dnt undastand Arsene Wenger..Hp he’s nt blind to d fact we need a very lethal centre forward..not a wide forward or attacking midfielder..A FUCKING CENTRE FORWARD….a person dat can score 4rm any wia in d box, hold off nd scare defenders…i believe its nt fair 4 playas lyk sanchez, ozil, cazorla nd ramsey to work their socks off nd nt have any body to reward them 4 all their hardworks…Chelsea have diego costa,he makes d midfielders look lyk world class midfielders cos he finishes off their efforts…Not withstandin,we also need a tough battling midfielder who can stop attacks in its tracks.nw i wld believe carvalho, toby alderwierld nd falco on loan wld be perfect…wenger hope u read dis comment nd have a rethnk cos top 4 is nt guaranteed if we kontinue lyk dis…

Sanogo is awful! No skill, weak, uncoordinated, out of position, very poor finishing, an awful player. Would not have made the Leicester bench. Campbell has proven himself in Greece, in PL, and CL. What is Wenger thinking?

,i dont know wenger’s problem;a coach who does not seperate the good from the bad arsenal is gone !!! wenger’s failure

The thing is Wenger doesn’t like to play the winning formula if it is discovered by chance, like when we played Benfica with Campbell on the right, Sanchez on the left Sanogo up front and Hector Bellerin in right back. The link up play between the four players with Rambo in the middle doing what he does best was mesmerising to watch. Why is it never repeated, ever?

    Here are five more thigns you should have learned from the Leicester game;

    1. Arsenal will not win with Sanogo up front; at least not any time soon. He needs to go out on loan and earn his chances, like Campbell did.

    2. Getting off to a fast, positive start is important; playing a weaker side, for what ever reason, is stupid. and any side that includes Yaya Sanogo is weaker.

    3. Arsenal need a defensive midfielder to break up play. Time after time Leicester sent men bombing up the pitch, left, right, and center; and Arsenal’s elegant midfielders watched them go. By contrast, Arsenal players who attempted the same thing ended up face-first in the grass. A better side would have scored six or seven against the Arsenal team fielded against Leicester.

    4. Three senior level center backs isn’t enough for a team with any kind of cup aspirations. Liverpool, by way of contrast, have Lovgren, Skrtel, Sahko, and Toure in the middle of the defense. Arsenal have Chambers, Koscielny, and Mertesacker. With Kos injured, Arsenal have no reserve CB.

    5. Arsenal need a genuine left wide man. If Podolski isn’t good enough (I think he is) then Arsenal need to go find someone to play the left attacking midfield role. Ozil, as you noted, is not effective out wide, Cazorla hates playing wide, and the rest of Arsenal’s wide players; Chamberlain, Walcott, Gnabry, and Sanchez are all right-side players.
