No Gunners approach yet, says Redknapp

LoicRemyHarry Redknapp says Arsenal have not yet made an approach for Loic Remy.

Although Arsene Wenger wasn’t intent on signing a new forward this summer, the Frenchman may now be forced to delve in the transfer market for one before the transfer window shuts next week after learning the extent of Olivier Giroud’s injury.

The French forward is set to miss up to three months of action following an ankle injury he picked up during the 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday.

Several names have already been linked with a move to Arsenal prior to Giroud suffering a knock, with Remy being one of them.

The QPR forward was close to sealing a £8.5 million move to Liverpool earlier in the month but it collapsed due to the Frenchman reportedly failing a medical.

Wenger has been a long-term admirer of Remy and was interested in bringing the 27-year-old before the forward signed for QPR from Marseille.

But when asked if Arsenal enquired about the availability of Remy, Redknapp said:

‘No, we haven’t heard anything.

‘It’s difficult because Remy has a buyout clause and one thing you don’t want is suddenly getting a call over the weekend with the end of the window approaching.

‘All we can do is just hope the phone doesn’t ring and that we get past Monday and Remy is still with us.’

Arsenal fans will be hoping Wenger does bring someone in to replace Giroud as many believe the likes of Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell cannot be relied on until the New Year.

Although he wouldn’t be first-choice on many of the fans’ list, Remy would be a decent enough signing and would, in my opinion, thrive under the management of Wenger and playing alongside better players.

The whole thing is a bit unsettled and fonfusing. Moralas is now reported to be gone to Roma. Report says OG could be out for months not a few weeks as originally thought. Arteta has been off to injury too. What will Arsenal do about these sudden injuries to some key Gunners is in the hands of the boss. We are all waiting for him. As for me, I am not entertaining any fears of Arsenal not qualifying for the CL Group Stage. The Gunners will certainly qualify tomorrow night God’s willing.
