Leicester City v Arsenal - Barclays Premier LeagueHere are my Arsenal player ratings from today’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City:

Wojciech Szczesny – Collected the ball from the back of his net, apart from that, the Pole wasn’t really troubled today. 6/10

Mathieu Debuchy – Defended well and got forward down the right flank at times. Done alright. 5/10

Per Mertesacker – Dealt with David Nugent, restricting the striker to limited chances, and positioned well throughout. 6/10

Laurent Koscielny – Got a nasty knock on the head and was unable to recover. Only played 22 minutes before being substituted. 5/10

Nacho Monreal – Got forward superbly and always offered an overlap on the left. Defensively wasn’t tested. 6/10

Mathieu Flamini – Always had his finger pointed at team-mates telling them where to be and barking orders. Got stuck in and protected the back four admirably. 6/10

Aaron Ramsey – A very low-key performance from the Welsh midfielder. Found space well and tried to create something for his team-mates, but was unable to do so. 6/10

Santi Cazorla – Sprayed the ball about well and showed some good dribbling skills, but was fairly poor in the final third. 6/10

Mesut Ozil – Failed to stamp his authority on the game and so poor was his performance that at times I thought he wasn’t on the pitch when he was. 4/10

Alexis Sanchez – Crafted many chances and time after time drove the ball forward to make things happen. Excellent work-rate from the Chilean again. 7/10

Yaya Sanogo – Despite his decent hold-up today, the French striker didn’t pose much of a goal threat. 5/10

SUBS:

Calum Chambers – Came on for Kos halfway into the first-half and was comfortable alongside Mertesacker. 6/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Replaced Cazorla with 13 minutes to go and was deployed through the middle. Not enough time on the pitch to make a mark on the game. 5/10

Lukas Podolski – Came on for Sanogo in the 77th minute for a like for like swap. Unfortunately, like The Ox, Poldi didn’t have enough time to make an impact. 5/10

Arsene wenger has finally Lost it.

  • Savage says:

The basic problem was understanding in our mid today, with simply not enough chances created. Cazorla had a mixed performance, as did Ozil and Ramsey.

Sanogo was living on scraps, and he did very well with what he had. Had Ramsey squared he would have scored the winner.

Ozil is to arsenal what torres was to Chelsea a waste of money but the club and most of the fan don’t want to admit it.

Ozil was not bad and i believe he played well. Did not lose any ball, held the ball up for runners but no one could get into the box with any room. They simply had too many men in the box and Arsenal style made them very vulnerable when Ramsey committed too much forward.

Arsenal’s play is too slow and too predictable. They also play a style that is so easy to counter and I feel sorry for them when the other team breaks quickly. Watch Chelsea kill us when Fabragas delivers that quick counter attack. Like when they scored their first goal at Everton. Arsenal has to change their approach. They are holding on by their teeth right now and maybe Walcott will add someting different but they have to change their style. Just look at how good the weaker teams look against us. That is a good example of how predictable their play is.
So the Coach is smart and he has to find a solution soon or we will be going down. Any new signing has to consider a different apprach.
Over to you Mr Wenger. I still think you are smart so now show us.
ps Only sign player who are better than what you have..

Sanogo is awful. He would not be selected for any other PL team. He has a very poor touch, weak, poor finishing, poor positioning, inability to take on defenders, just awful. Play Campbell or buy a new striker. NO MORE SLOWNOGO!

  • david jenson says:

podolski and ox should have started today alongside sanches. for gods sake get rid of useless sanogo and buy a proper premier leage striker worthy of a top 4 club ,

  • james says:

Shouldve started with Campbell up top, he deserves a chance. Sanogo gets into good positions but his touch and finishing is awful! Need to sign a top quality striker tomorrow. Rémy would have been perfect but for some reason wenger matches his release clause and then pulls out. William Carvalho is a must.
