Loic RemyArsenal are set to make a dramatic last-minute move for Loic Remy, who is close to signing for Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho is thought to be close on securing the services of the French striker after meeting his £8 million release clause.

However, Arsene Wenger, according to the Sunday’s Daily Mail, contacted QPR and agreed to also stump up the cash in an attempt to persuade the 27-year-old to join his side rather than Mourinho’s.

If reports are to be believed then Wenger will have the advantage over Mourinho in signing Remy, who has previously made it clear that he would love to join the Gunners if the chance ever came up.

Not only has Remy expressed previous interest in a move to Arsenal, but the France international would also be guaranteed more first-team football at the Emirates rather than at Stamford Bridge, especially with Olivier Giroud out until the New Year and Wenger’s side lacking any experienced forward other than Alexis Sanchez, who has over the years played more out wide than he has a striker.

Although it may not be the fans’ first-choice striker to come in this summer, Remy would fill the gap left by Giroud – at least until the end of the year – and for £8 million represents a very astute piece of business to undertake.

Too late. BBC is reporting Chelsea have hijacked move. What were you waiting for all this time? You are not necessarily the best poker player, Mr. Wenger!

“I am too busy concentrating on my next game”
Then give the purchasing/player contract job for someone else to do, someone who can make quick discissions.
Chairman: Hi Arsene, we will allow you 50 million to buy Suarez, the funds are there.

Wenger:No, He is not worth more than 30 million.

    Chairman: They want 50 million.

Wenger: Does he have a release clause?

Chairman: Yes but it would cost you more than 40 million.

Wenger: Ok, Offer them £40 million and One Pound.

    Chairman: You sure!

Wenger: Every penny counts, but I still don’t think he’s worth it. I could buy a team for that.
