Do Arsenal need more than Sanchez signing to land title?

Alexis SanchezGeorge Graham believes the signing of Alexis Sanchez will not be enough to land Arsenal the Premier League title this season.

Arsene Wenger managed to pull of the signing of the summer so far by bringing Sanchez to the Emirates in a deal worth between £33-35 million from Barcelona, which had pulses racing around north London.

But while many are excited to see the 25-year-old Chilean forward unleashed on the Premier League and believe he could fire Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 10 years, Graham, who won six trophies in nine years as Gunners manager and someone who rates Sanchez as world-class, insists Wenger will need to sign another prolific goalscorer to push them over the line this season:

‘They’ve brought in real class in Sanchez, but are going to need someone else to finish all the wonderful chances they make.

‘Arsenal will be challenging if they get another two or three players.’

I agree with Graham to be honest. Having attended the game against Monaco last Sunday, I still believe we lack that frontman who can score goals on a consistent basis and striker fear in opposing teams.

Sanchez is one hell of a signing and I, like many, believe he will be a big hit for us this season, but you cannot expect him alone to deliver trophies to the Emirates.

Olivier Giroud has lost a mark since he joined Arsenal and I worry whether he will be able to deliver for us, especially on the big occasions.

I would love to see Wenger go out and sign a lethal striker but the mystery there is, who is out there that fits the bill and available?

If we can sign another two or three players (a striker, defensive midfielder and centre-back) of real quality, I honestly, hand on heart, believe we could see us crowned Premier League champions come May next year.

Is Graham right?

totaly agree with you…infanct the difference between arsenal and other big teams in the epl is the giroud…while others have aguero, rooney and rvp we have giroud who is completely unreliable…I think ozil isn’t perfoming better because all of his efforts are a waste with giroud upfront….

I agree with you. We need not less than three(3) top class players to make it. We need strong players who can tackle tough games. Managemet must change their transfer policy so as Arsenal to be able to challenge

I agree with you. Arsenal need not less than four world class player to make it. Without strong players, we will stay weak to big teams. Only strong team can win trophies.
Management must change their approach. We now need trophies

Whatever about a striker a quality defensive midfielder must be bought. Monaco midfield out muscled Arteta & Flamini big time! Need a bit of power for a change.

For me the first thing we need to do is improve our defensive options. Vermaelen monreal arteta and diaby would be my first 4 out with hummels Rodriguez carvalho and khedira coming in.

A front 3 of sanchez Walcott ox backed up by campbell giroud podolski is not too worrying. But a back 4 of debuchy mertesacker koscielny gibbs backed up by bellerin chambers miquel monreal is scary. Not to mention wilshire Ramsey backed up by flamini arteta. For me it’s obvious where we need strengthening first.

Why on earth don’t theygive Javier Hernandez a chance? If all you are looking for is a finisher take him from United. They don’t even use him. You never know what could happen.

A lot of people of have been talking about how versatile Calum Chambers is, but what they tend to forget is the danger of having versatile players in the hands of Arsene Wenger, not that I don’t like us to have them. But given Wenger’s history of tightness and stinginess with money, having versatile players is a dangerous recipe in Arsenal. He will refuse to get enough cover, overplay and overuse such players until they become wrecked by injuries as we saw with Walcott and Ramsey last season. Gooners, please stop encouraging Wenger over Chambers’ situation and let’s first have enough cover for the different positions. Remember, we were on top of the Premier League for 128 days last season until our key players got injured in the crucial second half of the season because of playing too many games and our chances to win the league for the first time in 10 years went up in smoke!
