Barcelona look to be leading the chase for Thomas Vermaelen after reportedly submitting a £10 million bid for the frozen out centre-back.
The 28-year-old is being widely tipped to quit the Emirates this summer after spending the majority of last season on the bench as well as rejecting the chance to extend his stay at the club.
Napoli have been linked with a move for Vermaelen but United and Barca appear to be the two clubs most interested in the Belgium international.
And Sky Sports reckon the La Liga outfit have taken the first steps towards signing him by tabling an offer of £10 million.
Although Arsene Wenger does not want to lose Vermaelen, the Frenchman may be forced to sell his club captain or risk losing him on a free thee following summer.
The only positive coming out from this alleged £10 million offer is the fact that we would be recouping near enough what we spent to bring him to Arsenal five years ago, and that he would be playing his football away from the Premier League.
