Wilfried BonyArsenal have been given a boost in their pursuit of Wilfired Bony as the striker’s agent recently admitted that the Ivorian wants to secure a move to a ‘top-six’ club.

It is thought Arsene Wenger will be in the market this summer for a striker as the Frenchman only has Olivier Giroud to call upon.

And reports suggest Wenger is targeting Bony, who enjoyed an impressive debut season at Swansea, finding the back of the net 25 times in 48 appearances in all competitions, as a potential recruit to help out as well as offer Giroud some healthy competition.

Bony’s agent, Dalibor Lacina, told Newcastle they should’ve signed him last summer for £10 million and now says his client is ready to join a ‘club with ambition’:

‘I spoke to Newcastle about Bony last summer. Newcastle should have bought Bony a year ago but they didn’t believe in him.

‘They could have signed him for £10 million, but they said they weren’t sure if he was good enough, that he was only playing in Holland [with Vitesse]. Now he is worth £20m.’

He added:

‘The next step for Bony is a top-six team in England or a top team in Germany, Spain or France, or he will stay with Swansea.

‘We have a certain strategy. Bony is in a totally different place to Newcastle and wants to move to a club with ambition.’

Wenger will surely now step up his chase of Bony, but would he be an ideal signing for the Gunners?

Well for £20 million I think it looks a good deal. Not the best available, but it’s a decent one. In addition, the Ivorian forward is a powerful figure, is strong in the air and already has Premier League experience.

However, Giroud is a similar type of striker to that of Bony and I don’t think he could offer us anything different.

We need a striker who can play off Giroud. Someone with pace and can latch on to flicks from the France international.

Bony is a decent enough striker but not the kind we should be looking for.
