Surely we won’t see him back next season?

Kim KallstromKim Kallstrom would love to return to Arsenal despite making just one start for the Gunners during his loan spell at the club last season.

The 31-year-old joined Arsene Wenger’s side on loan from Spartak Moscow on January transfer deadline day. However, the experienced Swede arrived with a back injury which kept him sidelined for a few weeks, which restricted his first-team opportunities.

Kallstrom only managed to start just one match for Arsenal, this coming in the 3-1 win over West Ham in April, with his other three appearances coming off from the bench

But despite his lack of appearances, Kallstrom says he is keen to return to the Emirates to play for the Gunners once again:

‘Yes, I can see myself returning to Arsenal, we will see what happens.

‘I had a long talk with the manager, about everything. What was said will stay between us. But they were really happy with my work there.’

‘I had a fantastic time at Arsenal and I like their style of play because you get a lot of possession and can develop as a player.’

Wenger is believed to be in the market this summer for a midfielder, but it seems highly likely that the Frenchman will look elsewhere, with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Lars Bender and Morgan Schneiderlin being linked with a move to the Emirates.

However, perhaps another loan deal for Kallstrom at the end of the transfer window could be on the cards should Wenger be unable to capture his top targets.

We saw glimpses of what Kallstrom can do but I believe Wenger has to consider other options before even rethinking about signing the Swede.
