Arsene WengerArsene WengerArsenal are keeping tabs on Brighton goalkeeper Christian Walton, according to his father.

The 18-year-old was Albion’s third-choice goalkeeper last season, but the youngster is set to play a more prominent role for the Championship side in the upcoming campaign after Tomasz Kuszczak’s exit from the club.

Walton, a England Under-19 international, progressed through the youth set-up at Plymouth Argyle before making the switch to Brighton last year, despite several top-flight clubs reportedly chasing his signature, and it now seems Arsenal and Manchester City are having another look at the youngster.

Christian’s father, Tim Walton, recently revealed that both the Gunners and City are keen on his son and believes his performances on the international stage have also alerted others.

Quoted on SkySports.com, Tim said:

‘A number of clubs have been watching Christian. Arsenal are one and we know Man City are keen.’

‘He did extremely well in his three games for England, which has attracted some interest from clubs.’

Arsene Wenger may look to add to his goalkeeping department this summer after Lukasz Fabianski joined Swansea on a free, leaving Wojciech Szczesny as the club’s only recognized shot-stopper.

While Walton, who still has two-years remaining on his current deal at the Falmer Stadium, may have potential, the youngster won’t be playing regularly or challenge Szczesny for the number one spot if he was to join Wenger’s side this summer.
