serge aurierSo it seems Bacary Sagna is off after failing to agree terms over a new deal and it has left us with only Carl Jenkinson to fill in the Frenchman’s boots for the time being.

But Sagna’s departure could not come at a better time it seems as Serge Aurier recently revealed that he would jump at the chance to play for Arsenal and work under Arsene Wenger.

The 21-year-old has previously been linked with a move to the Emirates, and Wenger sees the Ivory Coast international as the ideal replacement for Sagna at right-back.

And Wenger will be delighted to hear that Aurier would relish the chance to play in the Premier League and for Arsenal.

The Toulouse full-back said:

‘I’ve never prioritised a club in England as even the promoted clubs are respectable.

‘I will privilege the one that will show the most interest in me, that will give me the most game time. After that, you can’t really say ‘no’ to Arsenal.

‘It’s a club with history, with a French manager, who has welcomed many French players. Arsenal are always thereabouts when it comes to trophies and a club that plays in the Champions League.’

Surely Wenger, who has been tracking Aurier for some time now, will now step up his supposed interest in the youngster (hopefully before the World Cup begins!).
