This can’t just be a one-off

ArsenalLast night Arsene Wenger finally broke his trophy duck by leading his Arsenal side to their first piece of silverware in nine years.

The last time I saw my side lift a trophy I was 18! Long time ago, and after all the cheap jibes and taunts by the media and friends for the past nine years they can no longer say anything to me or you guys reading this.

But while it was great to see our side finally win a trophy, the dramatic win against Hull must now be the catalyst for bigger and better things next season and seasons to come. Now that the lads have tasted silverware they must go again next season and continue to pack the trophy cabinet. This can happen. But it’s up to Wenger and co. to make it so. We have a very talented squad and when all fit and on song, I honestly believe we can beat anyone. However, new recruits are needed to take the Gunners to the next level and win the Premier league title – a striker, defensive midfielder and right-back should be high on Wenger’s priority list this summer – and if the Frenchman manages to strengthen in these areas, and with quality players, not unknown entities, and keep the current players happy and together, then there is no reason why they cannot bring more silverware to the Emirates.

We don’t want this to be a one-off. We are a big and famous club and we should be winning trophies year in, year out. And it’s now up to the players, coaching staff and Wenger to bring back the glory days. Yesterday was the perfect launching pad and hopefully this will spur the club on for years to come.
