Not this time Wenger, not this time…

Arsene WengerWell it’s not what we wanted to hear from Arsene Wenger ahead of the new season, with the Frenchman insisting the club’s main priority is to keep hold of the current squad and not splash the cash on new faces this summer.

We managed to smash our transfer record to bring in Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid last summer and despite mounting a serious title challenge early on and up until February, we have seen our hopes of winning the Premier League quickly fade away, losing heavily to Chelsea and Everton in recent weeks, and are now fighting to finish in the top four. Our only hope of ending our near nine year trophy drought is winning the FA Cup – something which is most definitely achievable considering the remaining sides in the competition (sorry Hull, Sheffield United and Wigan).

And although the majority of the Arsenal faithful want to see Wenger splash the cash on the top players in order to sustain a title challenge until the end of the season, the Frenchman, who has yet to reveal if he has signed a new contract extension offered to him, would rather focus on keeping the current group together rather than spend the cash:

‘Let’s see first how we finish, but we have the basics.

‘What is important for us is we have our players back and available.’

He went on to say:

‘Our main task will be to keep the team together and think ‘where did we go wrong?’ because there’s a lot of positives in our season as well.’

‘We have been the league leader 17 times and we dropped off when we lost our players at the important moment of the season, that is what we don’t want to repeat.’

Granted we lost a number of our influential players at an important part of the season, but this is no longer an excuse. Wenger had two transfer windows to sort out and strengthen areas which needed it and he didn’t. What was very disappointing was when he didn’t sign a striker in January knowing Olivier Giroud was our only fit and available forward at the time (Yaya Sanogo isn’t exactly someone you can put your trust in).

We do have the basics and a side (when all of our players are fit) which is more than capable of winning trophies, but injuries always seem to kill us off.

In the summer, if Wenger is still in charge of course, he MUST bring in players capable of replacing our starters, such as Theo Walcott, Giroud or Ozil. We have the cash available and unfortunately you have to spend it to keep up with the likes of City and Chelsea or be left behind.

why are people talking about wenger positively!! no excuses!! he’s already proved even with a full strength arsenal team,he’s the weakest link when we play against worthy opposition or so called title contenders and i mean the real ones not like arsenal who claim they are and are clearly not for sometime under wenger.the sooner people realize wenger is the weakest link and has become inept!! the faster arsenal will be on road to recovery.it will be a real disgrace if the board offer wenger an extension for clearly it will mean they really don’t value their fans, who don’t want him!! injuries are the last excuse for his poor performance!! we’ve lost big games without injuries this season!! our rivals can’t replicate victories against us in similar fashion without change of tactics from our manager,he’s out of ideas,no one is bigger than the club and in order for arsenal to contest again for the league, wenger is the first and most crucial change the club has to make! enough is enough!!!

Wenger will never own up,he will never sign what is needed and he will always be full of excuses when Arsenal crashes next time around.

    WHAT IS FOOLISHNESS?
    1. Foolishness is when you propose 40+1 pound on Suarez and spend 42m pounds on Ozil
    2. Foolishness is when you are top of the Epl at one point and by April, you are struggling for top four
    3. Foolishness is when you have four midfielders out in January and you ended up signing an injured Replacement called Kallstom.
    4. Foolishness is when you continue to pay a player who has been injured for two seasons . Is he is Messi? (Abou Diaby).
    5. Foolishness is when you lose 6nil to a coach that had earlier labbeled you a ‘specialist in failure’
    6. Foolishness is when you say ‘ Top Four is a Trophy for a beloved club.
    7. Foolishness is when a coach depends on two disables (Giroud and Sanogo) as top strikers for honours.
    8. Foolishness is when à board decides to give a man who has won nothing in 9yrs a new contract.
    9. Foolishness is when fans of a London club pay the highest match ticket in the Epl but live on the illusion of ‘ Next Season We Will Get It Right’
    10. Foolishness is dumping this club today and returning tomorrow to say ‘Up Gunners’
