Romelu LukakuKevin Campbell has urged Arsene Wenger to make a move for Romelu Lukaku in the summer.

The Chelsea striker, currently on loan at Everton, scored his 14th goal of the season against the Gunners yesterday afternoon and has not left Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four in a precarious state.

But despite his impressive performances for Roberto Martinez’s side this season, it seems the Belgium international’s future at Stamford Bridge is in serious doubt, with reports linking him with a permanent move to Everton at the end of the season.

Chelsea have reportedly put a £35 million price-tag on the 20-year-old forward, yet despite the hefty sum, former Arsenal frontman Campbell believes Wenger must make Lukaku his top priority when the summer transfer window opens.

Quoted in the Metro, Campbell said on Lukaku:

‘He’s young, he’s strong, he’s quick and he’s direct. What more do you need?’

Lukaku wants to play in the Champions League next season and Arsenal must finish in the top four to have any chance of acquiring his services.

Chelsea will be reluctant to sell to one of their London rivals, but should the Gunners meet their asking price for the player, the Blues will find it hard not to accept the offer.

Lukaku would be a great signing for Arsenal as we could definitely do with another forward in the squad to help out and challenge Olivier Giroud for his place in the side.

I think it will be hard for us to sign him as he is a Chelsea player and they wouldn’t want to sell him to us. But if we are willing to spend the money then I’m sure it will twist their arms.

£35 million is a lot of money to splash out on on a 20-year-old, but he has proven in the past two seasons that he is more than capable of establishing a starting role in the Premier League.

Everton fan here and two points flag up. First I’ve watched Lukaku all season and he’s never worth £35mn. Maybe in a couple of years when he’s consistently able to lead a line but I’d I’d be outraged if my club agreed to that fee now. Big matches he’s right there for…cold winters midweek fixture in Birmingham or Hull….nah.

Other thing is he wants CL football. Cant see him coming to the Emirates if you dont qualify for the group stages any more than I can see him stay at Goodison if we dont. Cant wish you luck for the rest of the season lads, but, I’ll tip my cap to a solid set of fans who value the game being played the right way.

Both points you make are true but so you think everton can afford to pay 35 mill on a player??! I dont think so

The 35M price tag is to scare away potential buyers. I would imagine he will most likely stay at Chelsea next season or be used in part exchange for an elite striker like Costa.
