Arsenal-v-Wigan-Lukasz-Fabianski-group-celeb_3119889Arsenal are going to Wembley (again) this time to contest for the FA Cup trophy against either Hull City or Sheffield United, and to be honest, if we don’t win it then we can forget about ending our overdue trophy drought for a long time.

We beat Wigan to make it to the final but made more work of it than we should’ve done. But after our 4-2 penalty win, there were a number of Arsenal fans who were left upset with the performance, and I was one of them. We didn’t exactly pull out a vintage Arsenal performance but it was one which got the job done, eventually. Credit to Wigan for this though. The Latics made it hard for us and when they went a goal in front I thought it wasn’t going to be our day. They were very organized and showed why they deserved to reach as far as they did, despite their time wasting and lack of conviction going forward, but who can blame them, they were up against a side 19 places ahead of them.

But while some were cursing our performance, at the end of the day we reached the final and have a huge chance to end this trophy drought and not be taken the mick out of. Yes we didn’t play particularly well but we got the job done, even though we made a right meal of it.

Let’s not forget that we had a number of players missing through injuries and a number of them should be back for the final on May 17th, including Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny and Mathieu Flamini.

Don’t dwell on the performance but be happy that we made the final and can actually win a trophy this season!

arsenal’s performance was nowhere near vintage but it was enough to down the double slayers of star studded man city. statistically arsenal were much better than wigan though and were it not for some frantic defending by their backline the game would have been decided normal time. the OX hit the wood work twice. arsenal lacked first 11 regulars walcott, wiltshire, ozil and koshielny all out injured. that’s excuse enough for me. i shall not listen to the wenger hating media mod who are too quick to excuse other clubs like mancity (that they only played their second string hence were beaten), or those suggesting it’s only wigan – the FA cup is said to be most interesting due to a history of upsets – so why should arsenal be immune to such upsets?

Well said. Media are on Arsenal’s case, no question about. How about the plastic supporters who are giving more ammunition to the so called main stream media let alone the tabloid
