Why a proposed £8M move for this man makes sense

Loic RemyThe Sunday Mirror claims Arsene Wenger is ready to trigger an £8 million clause in Loic Remy’s contract to bring the French striker to the Emirates this summer.

The QPR forward, currently on loan at Newcastle, has a get-out clause in his contract which allows the 27-year-old to leave Loftus Road and Wenger looks eager to activate it at the end of the season.

Remy has scored 13 goals in 23 Premier League appearances for Newcastle so far this season and although the Tyneside club are eager to hold on to the Frenchman, Arsenal have the lure of Champions League football in their favour.

Although Arsenal have Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo, Nicklas Bendtner and Lukas Podolski who can all play upfront, Wenger is ready to add to his firing line in the summer and has targeted Remy.

If Arsenal meet the clause in Remy’s contract this summer then QPR, who have recorded a loss of £65 million and are £177.1 million in debt, will have no other alternative but to allow the player to speak to the club.

This potential transfer makes sense and hopefully Wenger goes through with it as Remy is a proven Premier League striker who would flourish at the Emirates.

  • Pardon? says:

First anybody has heard of this clause, especially as HR has said he will cost a lot more than the £8-9m Newcastle were told at the start of the season.

First of all. Arsene Wenger is too late for the striker, he should have bought last summer. By now Arsenal would have been a force, not like this whimp just like Arsene Wenger.
