Lukasz FabianskiLukasz Fabianski is highly likely to leave Arsenal at the end of the season with only four months left to run on his current deal.

The 28-year-old Pole joined the Gunners in 2007 and was billed as the new safe hands of the club but quickly earned the nickname ‘Flappyhandski’ after some poor performances.

But since the emergence of Wojciech Szczesny four years ago, Fabianski has had to play second fiddle to his fellow countryman, as the former impressed despite his tender age.

The situation hasn’t changed. Despite moments of immaturity, Arsene Wenger has faith and sees Szczesny as his number one for the foreseeable future. Fabianski knows this and as such will almost certainly depart the Emirates over the summer to seek regular game time.

Credit to Fabianski for wanting to play regularly and his recent performances against Bayern Munich over the two legs. When on form, the Pole isn’t actually that bad a goalkeeper.

So while some will be glad to see the back of him and others will wish him well for the future, the dilemma for Wenger will now be finding a suitable replacement – ideally one that can keep Szczesny on his toes and preferably possess a wealth of experience.

So when Fabianski leaves, who should Wenger target? I personally think a more seasoned head is required so that Szcz can learn from him and also compete foe the no.1 jersey.
