Must he leave Arsenal to fulfil his potential?

WilshereStewart Robson believes Jack Wilshere must leave Arsenal if he is to develop further.

Following the Gunners 2-2 draw to Swansea last night at the Emirates, the 22-year-old England midfielder came under criticism from ex-Manchester United star Paul Scholes for his lack of improvement since Wilshere became a regular in the side three years ago.

And Robson is inclined to agree with Scholes and has pointed the finger of blame at Arsene Wenger for Wilshere’s progression.

The former Gunner said:

‘Jack Wilshere can be a world class player. I’ve seen him from a young boy and he’s an outstanding footballer.

‘Paul Scholes is right though, he hasn’t developed as well as everybody would have liked him to.

‘He lacks discipline. He wants to get on the ball and charge into tackles, there seems to be no discipline.’

‘Who does that come from? The manager. Wenger has to make sure he has a role in the side where he knows what to do when he does, and doesn’t, have the ball.

‘He can be petulant at times. Why is he petulant? Because the manager is petulant on the sidelines and it’s never been sorted out.’

Robson finished off by claiming under the right manager and coaching staff, Wilshere would fulfil his potential and become a world class talent, but the England midfielder will not improve under Wenger:

‘If Jack gets the right manager in charge of him, and the right sort of coaching, he will become a world class player. Arsene Wenger in my view is not that manager.’

Personally, I don’t think injuries have helped Wilshere’s progression. Before he started picking them up, he was undoubtedly one of Arsenal’s and England’s best and brightest youngsters.

Does he have to leave Arsenal in order to develop further? I believe every player has to go abroad in order to become a better one, and Jack is no different. However, he is a Gunner through and through and I don’t see him leaving anytime soon. Although if things don’t change for the better then it will only be a matter of time before Wilshere calls it quits at the Emirates.

Is Robson talking nonsense or speaking sense? Is Wilshere wasted at Arsenal?

in recent time i never see a player improve under wenger manageria, instead, they decline. look at d likes of chamberlain, walcott AND MANY MORE even wilshere these players are very good in their teenage age, but look at dem now they are not up to expectation. It is obvious dat arsene wenger lack discipline.

Ramsey. Gibbs. Van Persie. Koscielny (despite his drop in form he is greatly improved). Players who have improved in recent times… that aside I can understand how people are questioning Arsene Wenger. I am a staunch supporter of him but even I now am questioning whether or not he has passed his sell-by date… that said. Bryan Robson is a tw*t! How can he, as a former player, as a proclaimed arsenal fan (even as a blatant Wenger hater) call for one of our best players (and future prospects; let’s not forget Wilshere is not even 25) to leave the club!?!?!? Would he rather see Tottenham, Chelsea, Man U have the next Paul Scholes scoring against us?!?!?! What a tw*tting a$shole!!!!
