Arsene WengerFormer Gunner Nigel Winterburn has pointed out the obvious by claiming Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge is all but over following their crushing defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon.

Arsene Wenger’s side were dealt a 6-0 mauling at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s men which now leave the Gunners in fourth position in the table and seven points behind the Blues.

Arsenal still have a game in hand over Chelsea but Winterburn firmly believes that with those on top of them in such a rich vein of form, the Gunners are outsiders to win the trophy:

‘This season I wanted to see them challenge for the title They have done that to a certain extent but it looks like that may be coming to an end.

‘The way Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are going I can’t see any way back for Arsenal.’

Mathematically, it’s not over. However, I can totally get where Winterburn is coming from. Yesterday’s result doesn’t exactly fill you up with confidence and make you think we can win the title. Those around us are playing extremely well and it’s hard to see us on top of the table by the end of the season – our 50/1 odds on to win the title says it all really.

It was a shambolic display by Arsenal. Very disappointing. No thanks to a thin squad decimated by injuries. Arsene had opportunity to strengthen the squad in January but failed to do so. This negligence has come back to haunt the team.
Arsenal went gung-ho against a compact Chelsea side and were left exposed at the back. A more conservative approach would have been better with Flamini and Arteta anchoring the central midfield playing close to the defence. Arsene has refused to learn from past mistakes.
So where do we go from here? Beat Swansea comprehensively on Tue. Focus on the remaining FA cup games. Win the remaining 8 games and hope for the best. Miracles do happen.

I bet not one of you’s said let’s get rid of Wenger while we rocked the top of the league for most the season. We had a few slip ups, and all our best players injured. If we dint lose Rambo, Theo, ozil, Jack ect… Things would have been different.
No1 buys big in the winter cause there’s hardly anyone for sale in the winter. He could have got a jumped up little tw*t like bendtener on the cheap but you’s would have moaned at that as well. I think he’s done well this season (basically got the FA cup in the bag, well it’s ours to lose) so stop your bit**ing Wenger has my vote. FA cup this season and have another crack at the league next season.

It is dimwits like chris who cannot stop living in the past and support an obviously confused man who has nothing ? offer anymore that has left us widout a trophy ? nearly a decade. Pls wenger should go and his replacement should be diego simeoni…. Gunners! Pls!!!! Let’s take a leap of faith and move on…. The. Wenger glory days are over…. Learn from brandon rodgers and liverpool…. Young managers who understant the modern tactical game…. Wenger has and will always be a poor tactical with consistent poor reading of games

    Guys, let ‘s be honest
If Arsenal cannot beat their direct rivals for
the title they dont deserve to win.

  • Chris says:

Ok jay… What would Simeoni have done different at arsenal this season? We was top of the league until our players dropped like flys.
Wenger kept us in the champions league every season while Arsenal paid off Emirates stadium. At the time he couldn’t buy £40 million players. He raised players and sold them to make sh*t load of profit to pay the stadium off. So your telling me that the bloke hasn’t done a good job? You need your head tested son. He’s now in a place where he can buy world class again so why give him the bump now? He’s only just cracked he’s knuckles.

For starters simeoni would have never signed or prosecuted a season wid a lampost like olivier giroud, simeoni wld have signed a striker in the january transfer window, simeoni would have learnt his lesson after being humiliated once, simeoni would know dat ? opposition determines ur play and not one formation fits all….making money to pay ? stadium all buls***t…. ? man has been outfoxed in every tactical battle he’s been engaged in…. And of late he’s been signing all sorts of crappy players… And least I forget…how can I forget how his miserly mismanagement cost us the signing of luis suarez!… D man is ignorant of the modern game and stubbornly refuses to adapt. Wenger out!!!

  • Chris says:

Giroud ain’t world class no but scored 17 goals on his first season and is on 18 goals now. So he’s not that bad. Wenger dint cost us Suarez. That was Rodgers. Rodgers even said A couple of weeks ago that 40 million was the release but dint want to sell him.
As for the stadium… It cost in the area £400 million where do you think that money come from? If we spent stupid money in every transfer window we’d end up like Rangers.
How can you say.we was tactically screwed in every big game? Munich we was done over with szczesny’s red card. We done well with ten men and did well in the second leg. We’ve had 3 really bad games. But in all its not been a bad season as I think we will have silverware at the end of it. Which is what everyone’s asked for. What more do you want?
