What should our starting XI be against Bayern?

Arsene WengerArsenal got back to winning way on Sunday afternoon, beating Liverpool in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup and advancing to the quarter-final stage of the competition.

Arsene Wenger made seven changes to the side which drew 0-0 to United on Wednesday night and bagged a vital win going into the game against European champions Bayern Munich tomorrow evening.

Bayern continue to break records in Germany and currently sit atop of the Bundesliga, 16 points clear of second placed Bayer Leverkusen, and have not lost a league game this season (P21, W19, D2, L0). And while Arsenal have improved and managed to beat the German side away from home last season in the Champions League, Wenger and co. know they face an uphill battle to progress to the next stage of the competition.

As stated earlier, Wenger made several changes ahead of the Bayern game, giving those who needed it some much needed rest.

There are no new injury concerns but Mikel Arteta will miss the game due to a suspension – those who didn’t feature against Liverpool or played a cameo role in that game are expected to start against Bayern.

Taking this all into account, here is the side I think Wenger should put out tomorrow night:

Szczesny

Sagna               Mertesacker               Koscielny               Gibbs

Flamini               Wilshere

Rosicky               Ozil               Podolski

Giroud

Although Lukasz Fabianski had a great game, Wojciech is highly likely to return in goal for this game.

Ahead of Woj should be Per Mertesacker and Koscielny in the centre-back roles with Bacary Sagna on the right and Kieran Gibbs on the left of the pair.

Mathieu Flamini is a must start – his leadership qualities and tenacity are need for a game like this. And with Arteta suspended I expect Jack Wilshere to come in for the Spaniard and battle hard alongside Flammers.

Mesut Ozil should play behind the striker as he has the ability to pick out a pass and create something out of nothing.

While many would like to see Santi Cazorla start, I think Lukas Podolski should start after his impressive performance against Liverpool. And while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did the same as Podolski on Sunday evening, Tomas Rosicky’s experience at this level will be priceless.

With Bayern having a strong centre-back pairing in the form of Dante and Jerom Boateng, Olivier Giroud is the right man to spearhead our attack.

So what should our starting XI be against Bayern?

there is no how wishere can start ahead of carzola as he has been too poor defensively as he he does not recover back effectively to help the defence especially with our thrashing by man city 6/3 and liverpool 5 /1 when he played the full 90 minutes OUR MIDFIELD TRIO WILL BE flamini rosiscky and carzola while the front three will be CHAIMBERLAIN SANOGO AND OZIL as the speed power and lethal shots of chaimberlain can unlock any defence in the abscence of walcott You may wish to ask liverpool GERRARD ans AC millan which arsenal player gave them two much problem PODOSKI and WILSHERE can come in as substitutes in secondhalf to replace tired or injured players as the game unfolds

I don’t think that the inclusion of sanogo and chamberlain would be a good tactics or approach to a massive game such as this..i wuld rather prefer rosicky because of the experience he brings into the game and also jack wilshere because on a very good day,he can cause problems for any opposition midfielders..while i appreciate the good performance that sanogo put in against Liverpool,i don’t think he will be a good start based on the experience level of such games..chamberlain can be on the bench and may be brought in to run the Bayern defenders down or for counter attacks with his pace and superb form..

We need a team that can press & take advantage to counter, Sanogo was brilliant at pressing liverpools defence to catch them out & so was the Ox at quick counters.
    ………..Sanogo………
    Cazorla Ozil Oxlade
    …Flamini Rosicky
    Gibbs BFG Kosc Sagna
    ………Szczesny

I’ll take Sanogo ahead of Giroud. The lad really impressed in the last outing. Giroud doea not have the pace to beat their centre backs because they can match him stregth for strength. Also Chambo should start and Rosicky come in as a sub.

Sanogo to start ahead of giroud, u have got to be kidding me, the lad has no experience of playing in high intensity matches and against a team as strong as Munich rosicky is a must in the first team line up. Although Ox is not as quick as Walcott I’d like to see him use his pace against lahm n co.
