Is he worth his place in the side?

Mesut OzilFormer Gunner Stewart Robson reckons Mesut Ozil is not worth his place in the team on current form and also believes Arsene Wenger doesn’t know what he is doing with the German maestro.

After an impressive start to the season, which saw the 25-year-old contribute nine assists and score five goals before the turn of the year, Ozil’s form has tailed off and was largely unproductive against Liverpool on Saturday.

His latest inconsistency for the Gunners has been well noted and publicized by media outlets and pundits alike, claiming the German hasn’t lived up to the bill since his big summer move to Arsenal from Real Madrid. And with the way the German has been performing in recent weeks, Robson believes he doesn’t deserve his place in the side and also claims the creative midfielder is unhappy with Wenger’s training methods and wants clearer instructions.

Speaking to Hawksbee and Jacobs, Robson said:

‘I’m not sure he knows what his role is.

‘I’ve spoken to a few German journalists who tell me the German players aren’t particularly impressed with some of the work that is being done in training and what their roles in the team are.

‘Mesut Ozil is not quite sure whether he is playing behind the main striker, whether he is meant to go out into the wide left area, what his defensive duties are. He looks tired and, at the moment, he is not worth his place in the team.’

As much as I think Ozil is a great player, on current form, he should be dropped. He had a great start to the campaign but hasn’t been able to keep it going which is a cause for concern for some. I do, however, believe the guy needs a rest – he has pretty much featured in every Arsenal game so far this season and I think the only way he will get back to his best is if he sits out a few matches – easier said than done though with such a congested fixture list ahead!

Does Ozil deserve his place in the starting XI?

There’s obviously an issue with ozil somewhere.
low morale, no motivation & no determination.
If wenger hasn’t pulled him to one side already, then wtf is he waiting for.
We need ozil to be at his best if we are to win any trophies this season.

Ozil ia genius, he has already more goals and assists in his first than Hazard achieved. This season the second most in the premier league. When he left Real Madrid all the players including Ronaldo were upset, he created many goals for Ronaldo.

You have to analyse, why has he formed dropped:

    1. No Ramsey, they play well together.
    2. Less dominance in midfield.
3.No Walcott to create space, and accept quick passes.
4.Ozil is new to the premier league, more physical.
5.He was never nown for tackling back, he is a quick thinker and thrives, when we are dominant.

He is very similar to Bergkamp, a luxury somtimes. The media love to criticised him because he plays for Arsenal, and they all hate Wenger,
remember Wenger is supposed to be a miser.
The fee of some £42 million pounds, the second highest ever paid after Torez, blew the mith out of the water, that Wenger, was a tight arse ( pardon the pun) the media looked stupid.
Wenger now has more money, and will spend big in the summer, however he will be very selective, we already have many fantastic players.

Every should get behind our classy club, and really get behind the tomorrow, we are second and since the first game has lossed three games, having not played well for a month. The Liverpool game was the perfect storm, we gave two goals from set piece’s, and unfortunately our most talented player, gave the ball away in bad positions, which led two more goals!! COYG
