Did Wenger make a huge mistake by not spending in January?

Arsene WengerSince the January transfer window shut 10 days ago, Arsenal have picked up three points from a possible six, beating Crystal Palace at home 2-0 and losing miserably to Liverpool at Anfield 5-1.

Arsenal sit in second place in the Premier League table with 55 points, one point in front of City and one behind leaders Chelsea, so its not all bad with 13 games left to play.

However, having witnessed the demolition which transpired on Saturday afternoon, has Arsene Wenger made a huge error in not adding to his squad in the winter window?

We were reportedly linked with a number of stars, most notably Julian Draxler, but ended up signing a crocked 31-year-old Swedish midfielder by the name of Kim Kallstrom on loan from Spartak Moscow – a player who will more than likely not make a single appearance for us. So if you think about it, we basically have the same squad as we did from the start of the season, with a few players (Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey) out injured.

Well having watched the game on Saturday, I think Wenger should have at least signed another striker. Olivier Giroud is not on form but has no one challenging for his place in the side and as a result will, if he is able to remain fit, continue to start for us from now until the end of the season.

I also believe Wenger should have tabled the money Schalke were reportedly asking for for Draxler. Although young, the German playmaker would have revitalised our midfield and given the side that lift. In addition, the 20-year-old would have offered us a different dimension and could fill in for those who are either jaded, injured or not on form – someone like Mesut Ozil for instance or Aaron Ramsey, who is out for a few weeks. Ozil looks knackered and although Wenger wants to rest him, the Frenchman can’t afford to, especially with this hectic period approaching – that and he has no one to replace the German maestro with.

Our team looks like they are beginning to run out of steam, and although we are still in contention despite our latest result, we should have signed at least one or two players to strengthen out title bid.

I hope Wenger’s decision not to bring in anyone during the January window doesn’t come back to haunt him and us. If we do fall short then ultimately Wenger will have to take the majority of the blame – at the end of the day, he’s the manager and it is his job to motivate the players and get the points on the board, as well as add to the squad when he is able to.

We’ve certainly made it harder for ourselves to win the title by not recruiting any new faces, but its not mission impossible.

I think Wenger must be very serious when comes to bringing in high profile and reliable striker to the club. He cannot tell other clubs how much their sell their players, he just has to pay.
As Arsenal supporters world wide, we cannot afford to have heartbreak week in week out.

Wenger just showed how miserable his aging brain is. What on earth would intigate him not buying a playing during the Jan transfer window? Just wished he slipped and fell heavily such that he cant walk again for 6months. Come to think of it, is sister Giroud a striker? Why would wenger want to turn Arsenal fc to a french breeding players camp? He should be sacked immediately.
