Simone ScuffetArsenal have contacted Udinese to discuss a summer deal for their young goalkeeper Simone Scuffet, according to the Metro.

Although Arsene Wenger currently has three goalkeepers at his disposal, Lukasz Fabianski and on-loan Emiliano Viviano are both expected to depart the Emirates at the end of the season.

And it seems Scuffet is high on Wenger’s list, with the 17-year-old seen as an ideal understudy for Wojciech Szczesny.

Despite Scuffet’s age, the Under-18 Italy international is regarded as a hot prospect and has made five appearances (three in Serie A and two in the Coppa Italia) for Udinese so far this season.

Arsenal sent scouts to watch the youngster in action and have been impressed with his progress and performances, and it now thought that they have approached Udinese to discuss a potential move in the summer.

But because the 6’1’’ shot-stopper is highly-rated at Udinese and is seen as a future star, the Serie A club will drive a hard bargain and Wenger is unlikely to get him on the cheap.
