wenger 408Today’s performance against Cardiff may not have been an impressive one, but we managed to bag all three points with two late strikes from Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott.

However, if it wasn’t clear enough already, we are in desperate need of another coming in before the month ends.

With Olivier Giroud out with injury, Arsene Wenger opted to deploy Lukas Podolski as the main centre-forward with Santi Cazorla and Walcott either side of the German forward.

But Podolski struggled to get a foothold in the match, with many Arsenal fans on Twitter claiming the German is better off out wide than spearheading the attack, and that Giroud is actually more valuable than many people thought.

Despite having all the possession, we just couldn’t find the back of the net. This is when Wenger decided to throw on Nicklas Bendtner, in hope of the Dane bagging the winner. His decision to put on the Danish striker proved dividends as he scored in the 88th minute of the match to put Arsenal back on top of the Premier League table.

However, in scoring the crucial goal, Bendtner sprained his ankle and could be out for weeks.

With this in mind, and Podolski’s leading the line upfront in question after today’s display, as well as Giroud and Bendtner both sidelined, surely Wenger will have no choice but to go out and sign a forward, even if it is on a temporary basis.

If today’s game didn’t show Wenger that we need a striker to arrive at the Emirates this month then nothing will. Hopefully, and I’m sure he will, the Frenchman will answer the fans’ calls.

Wenger Wenger Wenger? Grow up why do you want one player to score all the goals?

  • Arthur says:

it’s easy to say he should buy a striker but it’s not easy in January, particularly finding one who is happy to sit on the bench most of the time. If Bendtner is only out for 3-4 weeks Wenger won’t buy. We also have others who can play striker for a game or two.
