Alvaro MorataWell it looked like we were on the verge of signing Alvaro Morata on a £2 million loan deal this January, but Real Madrid assistant manager Paul Clement says no one will be leaving the La Liga club this January.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen on bringing in another forward to bolster his attacking options and was open to a loan move for Morata, with the 21-year-old also admitting he may have to leave Real Madrid, albeit temporarily, in search of regular first-team football.

But Clement insists Real cannot afford to let the young Spaniard, as well as Fabio Coentrao, who is attracting interest from Manchester United, due to their lack of depth in the squad this month but suggests the club could consider offers for both at the end of the season.

When asked by talkSPORT’s Drivetime presenters Adrian Durham and Darren Gough whether Madrid would be willing to let Morata and Coentrao leave this January, Clement said:

‘I don’t think so at this point.

‘Alvaro is going to attract interest because he is a very talented young player, he’ll be very sought-after.

‘But we have a small squad here, we’re working with 20 outfield players and we currently have two players out with injury, so that leaves us with 18.’

He finished off by stating both players in question will remain at the Bernabeu for the remainder of the season:

‘These are the players that I’m pretty sure we will work with for the rest of the season.’

I knew this deal wouldn’t transpire in the first place to be honest – it was on and off like a light bulb – and I for one am glad that Clement has put an end to this ongoing rumour about Morata coming to Arsenal.

He may be a talent, but Morata is not what we need right now.

We don’t need or want Morata. If Wenger is going to buy a striker it should be a more experienced one, one that can actually challenge Giroud for his place in the side

Arsene Wenger isn’t going to sign Costa this window. Giroud Isnt a world class player and Morata will definitely be the correct option to challenge Giroud. Morata Is a world class player In the making. Alvaro was Arsenals only hope and Now Arsenal Fans will have to see Manchester City win the Premier League.
