Thierry HenryArsenal icon Thierry Henry admitted he would love to one day manage the Gunners, but only when Arsene Wenger decides to call it a day.

Although Henry left The Gunners for Barcelona in 2007 and is now in the MLS with the New York Red Bulls, the 36-year-old is regarded as an Arsenal legend and is the club’s all-time leading goals-scorer with 228 goals scored in 377 appearances for the north London club.

The French striker made a sensational return to Arsenal on loan in January 2012 and has since – during the MLS off-season – been training with the current crop at the Emirates season after season to keep his fitness levels up.

He was once again touted to make another return on loan, but he has set his sights on a more permanent homecoming in the future.

Quoted in the Daily Mirror yesterday, the Frenchman said:

‘The thing is I have so much respect for Arsene, and if it does happen eventually, one day, it is going to have to be after him.

‘I don’t actually want to talk about it right now because he is doing such a great job, but hopefully after him, yes.’

It’s great to hear that a legend of our club wants to one day return as manager, especially one which is loved as much as Thierry is.

However, Henry may have to wait a while for Wenger to step down from his position with reports suggesting the Wiley Frenchman on the verge of signing a new deal at the club.
