Arsenal must pay £25M to land Benfica striker

|

RodrigoA number of strikers have been and continue to be linked with a move to the Emirates this month as our options upfront are very thin.

Well it now seems the Gunners are looking at a new forward, Benfica’s Rodrigo, who could be available for £25 million, according to reports in Portugal.

The 22-year-old Spaniard has been a consistent performer for the Portuguese outfit since signing for them from Bolton three-years ago.

To date, Rodrigo has made a total of 63 appearances for The Eagles, contributing 20 goals and two assists.

Arsene Wenger is thought to be in the market to bring in a new, quality striker to help out Olivier Giroud, especially with Theo Walcott out for the remainder of the season and doubts over whether Nicklas Bendtner can offer healthy competition regularly.

But if Wenger is eyeing up a move for the Benfica striker then he will have to ace fast with both Zenit and Valencia also rumoured to be interested in the Spanish Under-21 international.

As well as acting fast, Wenger must be prepared to spend around £25 million to acquire Rodrigo as Portuguese publication O Jogo claims Benfica are now looking to get the best deal possible after Zenit tabled a £25 million bid for their star striker.
