What areas does Wenger need to reinforce this January?

Arsene WengerArsenal have been in great from this season. We currently top the Premier League table going into the New Year and actually look like genuine title contenders this term.

Arsene Wenger disposed of a lot of deadwood over the summer and managed to acquire the services of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid over the summer. It was a signing that showed Arsenal CAN still compete for the services of the high-profile players in the game and one which is showing the football world that we do mean business this season.

The signing of Mathieu Flamini has been one of pure genius from Arsene Wenger, as the tenacious French midfielder has given Arsenal what they have been missing since Patrick Vieira left the club, steel and precious experience in the middle of the park. And to think, Wenger was actually considering not signing him! Bet he’s glad he did.

Our defence, although not strengthened over the summer, seems more unified and more organised from past campaigns. So far, 19 games played, 18 conceded – the joint-best defensive record alongside Everton.

As for our attack, we certainly have the quality but the quantity of strikers is lacking. We have relied on Olivier Giroud thus far this season, with the Frenchman currently on eight in the league. However, it is clear as crystal that he is jaded and that we need someone to come in and help him when he hasn’t got his shooting boots on.

Looking through our squad, I believe we need to bring a few more new faces in January.

Personally, a striker should top our wishlist. I would also like to see another right-back come in along with perhaps a NATURAL left-sided winger – Lukas Podolski, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere can’t play this role (well they can but they’re unaccomplished in this position). If we manage to get in three players, not necessarily of world-class stature but players that can offer decent cover should others be unavailable, then we will go all the way this season and hopefully break our trophy drought.

So, with the January transfer window only two days away from opening and our club being linked with a host of players, who should Wenger attempt to bring in? More importantly, what areas do you believe need reinforcing?

Costa or Dzeko or Benteke (in that order) for the central striking role to compliment the efforts of the less-than average performing Giroud. An experienced and mobile right-full back that will be there for a usually injury-prone Sagna. And maybe, a roven left winger who can support Gibbs or Monreal when overlapping. Then, 2 trophies will be ours. I hope Wenger will not however disappoint?

I think the gunners we need only a powerful striker and not anything else.
