Lukasz FabianskiLukasz Fabianski is wanted by Schalke and could make a move to the Bundesliga outfit as soon as January but would have to take a wage reduction to do so, according to Polish website Fakt.pl.

The 28-year-old has featured only twice for the Gunners so far this season, these both coming in the Carling Cup, and his last Premier League start for Arsene Wenger’s side was back in April against Norwich at the Emirates.

The out-of-favour goalkeeper has expressed his unhappiness at not featuring regularly for Arsenal and hinted back in September that he would be open to a move in the New Year if nothing changes.

Although Fabianski hasn’t continually outlined his desire to depart the Emirates, Poland national head coach Adam Nawalka has said that the former Legia Warsaw man is on the lookout for a new club.

And while Wojciech Szczesny continues to impress between the sticks, Fabianski’s chances of getting what he wants remains problematic. However, his five game stint last season, which included a clean sheet away at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich, appears to have proven enough to Schalke management that he is a good enough replacement for the ageing Timo Hilderbrand.

Since his switch from Legia Warsaw back in 2007, Fabianksi has featured 65 times for Arsenal and with the loan capture of Emiliano Viviano from Palermo over the summer, Wenger could well decide to let the Pole go to Germany this January.
