The right man to be dropped from the side?

Jack WilshereWith Mikel Arteta back in the fray, it looks like Jack Wilshere will be the one who will have to prove to Arsene Wenger that he is worthy of a starting line-up week in, week out. But the England international is relishing the challenge.

Many thought Mathieu Flamini was only brought in as a cover to Aaron Ramsey, Wilshere and Santi Cazorla. But the French hard-man has started every game since Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Sunderland, and it seems Flammers will keep his place in the side following a string of dominant performances in midfield for the Gunners since re-signing for them in the summer.

There isn’t a chance in hell that Ramsey will be dropped from the side as the Welshman has arguably been our best player of the season so far, and Mesut Ozil provides us with creativity that we’ve been missing since the departure of Cesc Fabregas.

So, at the moment, Wilshere cannot be assured of a starting role in Wenger’s side, and the Frenchman’s decision to drop him to the bench for last night’s game against Napoli, in favour of Arteta, signifies this.

But the 21-year-old is looking forward to the challenge, claiming competition for places can only be seen as a positive and will make him a better player:

‘I have played a lot of games recently, so I was just happy to get on and help at the end. We still have Santi Cazorla to come back, so we are going to have a great squad.

‘When I (first) broke into the team, it was similar – there was (Cesc) Fabregas, (Abou) Diaby, (Alex) Song, players like that.

‘It brings the best out of me and it will bring the best out of the other players as well. If we can keep everyone fit, we are going to be real contenders in all four competitions.’

Taking current form into account, Wilshere has to be the man who sits out at the moment. As stated above, Ramsey and Ozil are simply undroppable, while Flamini and Arteta provide solidarity in midfield, allowing those ahead of them to express themselves, and Jack will have to prove to Wenger that he is making the wrong decision leaving him out in the cold.

Is Wilshere the right man to be dropped from the side?

    It’s a SQUAD stupid!

    • Hersh says:

No. Squad refers to the bench players who rotate in. “squad players” is what they’re called, and that’s where Wilshire is heading.

I agree in totality with your article.Jack should be dropped, his injury concern means he should be handled with caution till he is fully fit & lookin’ sharp…he needs rest…i think cautious rotation of the squad is the best inorder to maintain squad balance, healthy competion is okay.

Yes.wilshere is not a good passing player as arteta is wenger should be drop him till the december because the tough game will be come and tuesday night 11 is best team if cazorla fit ohhh this is unbeatable side…pls mr wenger dont play wilshere at all….

  • Damn_Gallas says:

Yes, wilshere should be dropped from our current best eleven until he is match fit 100%. In terms of experience he is the least experienced.

However this is a squad, and our crucial period is coming up real soon with Dortmund, and we will face chelsea in CO cup, then liverpool, dortmund and man utd (if I didn’t remember wrongly)

We would need a strong squad to rotate. Our squad is small, but we care quality and rotation is no problem. Ozil and ramsey cant play every match. We have cazorla and wilshere. Flamini can rotate with arteta and even diaby if he is finally fit. In addition we have rosicky as well that can play all midfield role.

Even for the left and right attackers, walcott cant play every match and we have gnabry, chamberlain and miyaichi. Bendtner will help Giroud when he has proven his worth. Podolski as well when he is back.

Right now we are only short in defense. I feel we need another defender, one injured and we would have no back up. I hope sagna is recovering well. Lets hope he takes this week off to recuperate. In january, we need a defender desperately, and a striker if we can find one.

Cant wait for this sundays game, arsenal to win!!

Cant wait for after the International break, in which cazorla sanago walcott and podolski should be back soon. Jus pray that no one moves in the opposite direction.
