arsenal-badgeMy Arsenal player ratings from today’s 1-3 win against Sunderland (feel free to argue or agree with me):

Wojciech Szczesny – Made some good saves throughout but was unable to keep a clean sheet. Still a good display from the Polish keeper. 6/10

Carl Jenkinson – Bombed up and down the right flank like a whippet. Always offered an overlap and delivered some good balls into the box. 6/10

Bacary Sagna – Recently stated that his future may lie as a centre-back and after that performance from the Frenchman he could well do a job there as the seasons roll by. 7/10

Laurent Koscielny – Great positioning throughout and led the back-line well. A lack of concentration led to the centre-back conceding a penalty which Sunderland converted but we can forgive him for it. 7/10

Kieran Gibbs – Much like Jenkinson, Gibbo got forward well and defended when he had too. 6/10

Mathieu Flamini – ‘Madman Flamini’ bossed the midfield today. The Frenchman was not afraid to get stuck in and his tenacity is what we have been missing all these years. Got booked…again! 7/10

Aaron Ramsey – Misplaced many passes, but the Welshman ran his socks off today. Always wanted the ball and was not hesitant to dribble forward with it. Scored to cracking goals and had more touches of the ball than any other player on the pitch. 8.5/10

Jack Wilshere – Still not fully fit in my eyes but Jack doesn’t look far from it. The England international was more assured on the ball and drove the team forward from his midfield role. Linked up well with Ozil and has license to advance further up the pitch with Flams in the side. 7.5/10

Theo Walcott – Should have put us beyond sight in the first 45 if it weren’t for his poor finishing. Made some decent runs forward in the second-half but I’ve seen Theo play some better games. 5/10

Mesut Ozil – Great debut for the £42.4 million man. Got his first assist in an Arsenal shirt after just 10 minutes and always looked for the killer pass in the final third. Can only get better, and will no doubt contribute more assists as the season rolls on. 7.5/10

Olivier Giroud – Four in four for the French forward and looks to have settled nicely into the Arsenal line-up. Assisted Rambo’s second goal but went off really late in injury time after picking up a knock. 7.5/10

SUBS:

Thomas Vermaelen – The Belgian defender came on for Ozil in the 80th minute and was deployed in the left-back position. Got a few touches of the ball and will need more minutes to regain his total fitness. N/A

Nacho Monreal – Replaced Theo in the 88th minute. N/A

Chuba Akpom – Came on for Giroud in the 93rd minute. N/A

Kosciely is a 5 for giving away a penalty that nearly cost arsenal the game.

Di Lunio should get a 9 for his rant

i think i agree with most of your ratings. Walcot was really poor today with his finishing. The first and clearest of his 4 chances should have been a chip over the goalkeeper, by a more clinical striker. Kos is a great defender but his momentary loss of concentration occurs too frequent for comfort. Jenkinson works hard but he must play more intelligently when he runs up the flank with the ball. With every passing game, i’m becoming more of Oliviere Giroud’s fan. I think he’s far better than i rated him in his first season.
