Aaron RamseyJamie Redknapp believes Aaron Ramsey is becoming a complete midfielder, with the Welshman displaying traits of former Gunners icons Patrick Vieria, Emmanuel Petit and Cesc Fabregas.

The 22-year-old netted his fourth Premier League goal of the season yesterday against Swansea in a 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium, propelling Arsenal back to the top of the league.

And speaking after the game, Sky Sports pundit Redknapp says Ramsey’s willingness to get on the ball reminds him of Vieira, while his goal-scoring trait is reminiscent of that of Fabregas:

‘Ramsey is their go-to man at the moment. He was outstanding again today and certainly in the second half, he drove the team on.

‘He’s playing with confidence. Last year when he got into those areas, would he be driving forward? I really doubt it. He would probably back up the play.

‘This year, he wants to carry on. He desperately wants the ball and I felt all game he was the player and the person they looked to all the time.

‘When I used to play against Arsenal, I always used to think about Vieira. Whenever they were in difficulty, the first thing they would do is pop it into Vieira because they knew there was a bit of safety and a bit of calmness about his game. That’s exactly what he’s becoming for them. It’s early, its seven games into the season, but I’m seeing a young man who is really growing into himself.’

The ex-Liverpool and Spurs midfielder went on to say:

‘He’s absolutely tremendous in his all-round game. In the second half, he had the ability to drive his team forward and I’ve not seen an Arsenal midfielder do that for a long time.

‘I think about Vieira and Petit and those big guns and that’s what he’s doing now. There’s a little bit of Fabregas in there as well because he’s adding goals.

‘He looks a complete midfielder at the moment.’

Ramsey is clearly in the form of his life at the moment and is getting better with each game that passes by. He seems to have settled in a position that he is comfortable and familiar in and is scoring goals which is a bonus as well.

Although I get where Redknapp is coming from, Ramsey still has a lot to do to be compared to the likes of Vieira and Fabregas. However, if he continues the way he is going then the comparison may well be justifiable in the near future.

To me, Ramsey is a complete midfielder. A box-to-box man. A player who runs his socks off for the team and drives them forward. He always wants the ball which is a great trait and adding goals to his game will only heap more praise on the Wales international.

I’ll go out on the limb here and say that he is probably, on current form, one of the best midfielders in world football at the moment, and I for one am glad to see his potential finally being fulfilled.

Unbelieveble he’s changed from being a flop to become one of the key player for Arsenal this season, there is not too many that would believe in him expect Wenger even my self was to frustration every time he was on pitch last season, this is just shone us Wengers ability to se things in his boys that we cannot se. I wish him my best and hope he will continue his good run and get better because he deserve to be one of best midfielder.

Man ive never ever been so happy to be completely and utterly wrong. I simply thought rambo had either been ruined by shawcross or just wasn’t as good as we had at one time thought he could be. I was extremely verbal bout him not being good enough and would have paid a club to take him off our hands. But as ive said I was so wrong and now im off out to get no.16 tattooed on my big stoopid forehead.
