For the last two weeks or so, all we have read in the newspapers regarding Arsenal in the transfer market this summer is their pursuit of Luis Suarez.
This saga is expected to last the distance, with Liverpool reluctant to sell the 26-year-old and Arsene Wenger ready to wait to make another move for the lethal striker.
But should Wenger be putting all his eggs in one basket?
Instead of looking for alternatives options and having some sort of contingency plan in place – should Suarez not join us – the Frenchman is fixated on acquiring a player whom Liverpool clearly don’t want to part with, hence Brendan Rodgers newly stating if Gareth Bale is worth over £100 million then so is Suarez.
There are still just over four weeks left to do some business in the transfer market, plenty of time to send out your scouts and bring in other top quality players.
Although Wenger claims the club are working hard to bring in new recruits, we are seeing very little if anything actually happen, and this is worrying, especially with the funds we have available this summer.
I don’t mind that Wenger is chasing Suarez, as he is a world-class footballer. However, his desire and determination to land the Uruguayan seems to be distracting him from other potential deals.
What if he doesn’t manage to sign Suarez? What then? Well I can tell you what I think will happen. I reckon we will see Wenger go out on deadline day and purchase some panic buys, like he did last year.
I admire the fact that he has targeted a player like Suarez, but there is no point continuing a fight you are going to lose in.
Only Arsene and Gazidis know which players they are intending to buy. The Press and everyone else are fixated on Suarez because it makes a good story. Wenger has always done his business quietly and he will eventually tell you on the ‘need to know’ basis! Be patient.
Do you not think fans have been patient enough for the last 8 years?
Wenger does his transfer dealings so quietly even the targets and their clubs appear to never hear about it.
Wengers plan is to drag the Suarez saga out until the window closes and easily led fools like you will believe him when he says “I tried.”

He does have POWER in this situation. Unless and until he decides to release Suarez from his contract the player stays at Liverpool.
