A wise move for Wenger to undertake?

FlaminiWell after a great night in Europe the other night in Turkey, Arsene Wenger had this to say:

‘The transfer market starts for me now and a lot of activity will happen between now and September 2nd.’

This was met with a lot of comments on twitter, with the most common popping up being ‘I’ll believe it when I see it or ‘heard it all before’, remarks which I can honestly say I do not blame for a second. Less than 24 hours later, and it appears we have our second summer signing, with Mathieu Flamini set to re-join the club five years after he quit and headed to AC Milan.

Should the deal be confirmed by the club then Flamini would be the fourth player to rejoin Arsenal, following in the footsteps of Sol Campbell, Jens Lehmann and Thierry Henry, who has returned twice on loan. Whilst the signing wouldn’t alleviate any pressure Arsene Wenger is currently under to bring players in, it could well prove to be a very astute move by the Frenchman to resign the combative midfielder, who has been training with the club for the last few weeks.

Flamini, who was offered a new deal at Milan before leaving, decided to opt for a free transfer as he wanted a longer term deal that the Serie A club were willing to give, this is when he asked Wenger if he could keep up his fitness by training with the current Arsenal crop while he looked for a new side to join. Seemingly, the 29-year-old’s training sessions has done enough to prove to Wenger that giving him a deal is the right thing to do, and with the amount of injuries we currently have, personally, I would be more than happy to see the Frenchman back at the club.

I am aware that the feelings amongst the fans will be divided about resigning him. However, the fact is he is a player that will provide cover for us throughout the season. Let’s face it; if we as fans can forget about Sol Campbell playing for THAT side up the road then I am sure we can forgive Flamini for leaving in the first place. I for one will welcome him back with opened arms if the signing is confirmed. On the plus side, it should also put an end to the rumours about us going for Gareth Barry, which can only be a good thing!!!

Would you like to see Flamini back at The Emirates?

The best move Wenger could make at the moment is through the exit door….

Wenger re-signin’ flamini won’t be bad at all considerin’ the wealth of experience he will bring along…he is a combative & fearless DM…we really need a DM cover, arteta needs rest sometimes or when he plays the attackin’ role suits him better…sign him up wenger if the club can’t get someone younger….

Wenger should be shown the exit door. We are tired of promises every season.

Yea i would he’s a good player well he was when he left, I don’t know if he has lost anything since that time with injury but I’m sure A.W is assessing him if there is any truth in it as we seem to be linked with every player but why not it would be better than paying £20 mil for someone with same ability & go out with that money and get Mitchu CF & Williams SB from Swansea & James McCarthy for DM & Shaun Maloney LM from Wigan they are both good players & British & as for a GK I would like the Stoke keeper 6 players 1 free & 5 you should get for £65 mil I wouldn’t have any dealing with Real Madrid at any amount of money after the Higuan saga.

This is precisely why most Arsenal fans are fed up with Wenger. It’s the double talk they’ve been subjected to for years now . One day it’s Wenger saying “we’ve been working on signing players 24/7″ and a week later ” for me the transfer window starts now”. The man has become a caricature of his former self. One day he says Arsenal will only make quality signings that can only improve the squad and those are hard to find( fair enough), only later to say that Arsenal don’t need more quality – just more players . All those contradicting massages from Wenger( and Gazidis) are enough to give you a whiplash .

Lets face facts. We cannot believe a single word that comes out of Wengers mouth. Total bullshit.
