Roma are in talks with Arsenal over the signing of Gervinho.
The 26-year-old forward joined The Gunners from Lille in 2011 for around £10.5 million but has struggled to stake a claim in Arsene Wenger’s first XI.
In his first season at The Emirates, Gervinho managed to feature 35 times (in all competitions) for Arsenal. However, last season, he managed just 26 outings (16 as a starter) and looks to be out-of-favour.
Roma reportedly tabled an opening offer of £6 million for the Ivory Coast international but this was turned down by Arsenal.
But Roma are preparing an improved offer of around £10 million for Gervinho, which would see £8 million paid upfront and £2 million in add-ons.
But should Wenger get rid of Gervinho? I think so.
Although he has skill and can get by his marker, his decision-making is not always there and, at times, does too much with the ball.
We already have Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and even newly Santi Cazorla who can play on the left wing, and with the potential arrival of Bernard from Atletico Mineiro, I can’t see Gervinho getting as much game time as he did last season.
So should a £10 million bid from Roma be offered to us in the upcoming weeks, I think Wenger should accept it and put the money from Gervinho’s sale towards another player this summer.

Arsenal should be clever and sell Gervinho for 6M and also take Osvaldo from Roma…Osvaldo would fit our football really well and would be a great addition to the squad as a backup striker or maybe a main one for the first team. At the moment Arsenal only has one main Centre forward which is Giroud, Podolski is also an option but we don’t know what wenger plans are for next season, i dont know weather he will play the 4-3-3 or the 4-4-2 if he chooses to go for the 4-4-2 formation he should play Poldi and Giroud together with the usual wingers(walcott,cazorla) and centre midfielders(arteta,ramsey) only that way we would be able to play all our best players in one team at the same time….only time will tell….but if Wenger does not buy any player in this transfer season then we can only hope that Wenger is doing the right thing and wants to make the current team gel together as they did at the end of last season…..the team is still unbeaten since we beat Bayern in the champs league….remember that…if they can continue that form then Arsenal can beat anyone
If Arsenal can get £10m for Gervino, then wenger should accept it & cut a minor loss. Thats all depending if he has plans for him next seasob & who we sign.
