Why Arsenal should consider a move for this Spanish goal-machine

Roberto SoldadoOver the weekend, Roberto Soldado confirmed he will consider his options this summer and wouldn’t rule out a move to the Premier League.

The Valencia forward, who is currently taking part in the Confederations Cup in Brazil with Spain, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Mestalla, with a number of English clubs, including Arsenal and Spurs, eyeing up the 28-year-old this summer.

And Arsene Wenger will no doubt be pleased to hear the Spaniard’s latest comments referring to his future, as the Frenchman looks to strengthen his attacking options.

On his future, Soldado said:

‘I’m not closing the door to anyone.

‘I know that some of my Spain team-mates have left La Liga and done very well. The Premier League is very attractive.’

The Gunners have been strongly linked with moves for Wayne Rooney, Stevan Jovetic and especially Gonzalo Higuain in recent weeks.

However, following Soldado’s latest remarks and the prospect of being sold at a lower price, due to Valencia’s financial difficulties, than the forwards listed above, should Wenger make the Spanish forward his top striking target this summer?

Soldado enjoyed a productive season for both club and country. He managed to score 30 goals in 46 total appearances for Valencia last season, and found the net four times in five matches for Spain as well.

He is a goal-machine and since signing for Valencia in 2010, the Spain international has bagged 82 goals in 129 appearances for the Los Che. So it’s not been a fluke season for him. He simply knows where the goal is and is a pure finisher – something we could well do with to fire us to silverware next season.

He still has four-years left to run on his current deal at Valencia. But with the club under financial problems, which saw them sell the likes of David Villa, David Silva and Juan Mata in the last three years, and the player himself expressing his desire to play in England, I reckon, if the price was right, we could snap him up. A bid in the region of £18-20 million would, I think, see us land him this summer.

Should Arsenal turn their attentions to Soldado?

I just don’t get it. Why are you suggesting we should buy Soldado instead because Valencia will sell him cheaper. Don’t we want the best? Don’t we want to win the premiership? What is for sure…cheap is dear. In reality we need to buy the best. Higuaine is up with the best. His international scoring record is amazing as well as his record with Real Madrid. We need the best to win the league. Good is not good enough.

Sodado scored 24 goals from 33 matches.
Higuain scored 16 fom 28 matches.
Also Soldado doesn’t have the likes of Ozil, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Modric and Xabi alonso behind him. Also he consistently scores around 20 goals every season
Those who follow Soldado wouldn’t say he isn’t among the best. He is one of the most underrated players atm.

        Hi there,
I just feel there are different levels. I have no doubt that Soldado is a very good player. Higuaine though is a level up and could genuinely give us a chance for the Premiership. We need players on the World Class level. So yes…Soldado is a good player but we need players in the ‘Invincibles’ class. Higuaine is one hell of a classy player.

Soldado would be a good buy but only if we lose out on Higuain. Why not get both cos anyone who seriously thinks we have even a 1% chance of buying shrek are deluded.
Soldado ia very good = top 4 for sure
Higuain is superb = champions a possibility

    I would prefer higuain.
But i must admit that Soldado has an amazing goals for games ratio. So I wouldn’t be disappointed to see him at arsenal instead. Lol

  • Simba says:

Higuain plays for Real Madrid n is always in the sportlight but Soldado is much better than him

  • Fumhita says:

Higuain is a done deal already, Fellaini is a done deal too. I would not mind soldado also, cause then we will have a fierce attavk and a solid midfield. Cant wait for the season to start. 4-0 minimum in our first game, mark my words.

Fumhita i like the corage you are giving us the real fans. Up gunners for life we will make it next season.
