We should know when we’re beat

|

Wayne RooneyWayne Rooney looks set to depart Manchester United after handing in a transfer request at the end of the season.

As a result, a number of top European clubs have been linked with the England international and surprisingly, Arsenal are reportedly in the mix for his signature this summer.

Would he be a good signing for The Gunners? Well I wouldn’t mind him spearheading our attack next season, put it that way.

Although we can afford to buy Rooney off United, the stumbling block in this potential deal is the forward’s wages.

The Daily Star Sunday claim Arsenal are struggling to put together a financial package to tempt Rooney to join them over the likes of PSG, This doesn’t come as a shock to be honest.

Rooney is reportedly pocketing up to £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford and it is thought the United man wants to be earning the same if not more at his new club.

It’s probably best to know when you are beat and this case I can’t see Arsenal offering Rooney more cash than PSG can.

So I think it’s in our best interest to stop wasting our time trying to sign a player that we simply can’t afford.

Would love him. Would sell loads of shirts and help kick start a new begining. However 250k is too much. Even utd shouldn’t pay a player that. Needs to be capped in some way. Where will it end?

I think anyone choosing psg and Monaco over moves to the top 4 in England (united, city, Chelsea or arsenal) the top 2 in spain (barca or Madrid) or the top 2 in Germany (Bayern or Dortmund) or the “top 3” in Italy (Milan, inter or juventus) are purely just going for money.
I would love to see one of the top strikers in the world at arsenal and in that I include (messi, Ronaldo, neymar, falcao, cavani, rvp, ibrahmovic and rooney) but I believe arsenal are not in the financial league to attract any of those players.
However strikers such as aguero, tevez, djeko, suarez, villa, higuain, benzema, lukaku, jovetic, lewandowski, torres, ba should most definitely be within our grasp. However, I do believe that in Walcott, giroud and podolski we have 3 strikers that are very close to if not already in that bracket, but that is not to say we don’t have room for at least one more of the above.

Rooney are a superstar and when best a deciding factor, give him a massive signing on fee and 200 grand a week.

250 k pounds a week is very much affordable in Arsenal. We pay over 600 k pounds weekly on deadwoods like Chamak, squilaci,Arshavin,Santos,Djouru,Denilson,Diaby etc thn we complain we cant aford wages.
