Torres says Barca star may have pre-contract agreement with Arsenal

|

David VillaSpanish football expert Axel Torres has been told by a source that Barcelona’s David Villa has signed a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal.

The Spain international was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during the winter transfer window but a deal was evidently not finalised.

But Torres now says the 31-year-old no longer wants to be a Barcelona player and even showed the club’s board a pre-contract agreement to sign for Arsenal if they allow him to leave the Camp Nou this summer.

When asked about Villa’s future, Torres said:

‘He’s coming to England. But we don’t know which team.

‘I’ve been told he’s showed a pre-contract with Arsenal to the board of Barcelona.

‘He’s showed he had an agreement with Arsenal, but it’s not the final agreement.

‘He showed it to the board of Barcelona to put pressure on them and he wants to go to England.

‘He doesn’t want to be a Barcelona player. He has no good relations with some of the important players in the squad and he knows he has to play if he wants to be in the starting line-up for Spain at the World Cup next year.’

Liverpool and Spurs are also reportedly keen on Villa, who is valued at around £12-15 million.

But Spanish publication Sport say The Gunners lead the chase and have tabled a bid for the ageing striker, who looks certain to leave Barcelona this summer with the imminent arrival of Neymar.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be on the look out for a striker this summer, a forward to fire the club to silverware next season.

But is Villa that man?

The Spaniard made 42 appearances in total this season (25 as a starter) and managed to find the net just the 15 times.

I personally don’t know whether this would be a good or bad signing for the club!

Villa is 31 years! notwithstanding his maturity and expertise …. getting a younger ..say 25 – 27 years ‘matured’ and proficient striker is the way Arsenal should go!

Rotated with podolski, david villa will be an excellent signing and would give us two world class signings on that side of a front 3. In walcott and chamberlain we already have 2 superb chances for the right. I can see the signing of sanogo being the understudy for giroud but I would also push the boat out to sign fabregas to give us two world class options in the cam role the other being cazorla. Obviously cazorla and fabregas can both play other positions as can walcott chamberlain podolski and villa so that would surely be enough attacking talent especially with giroud ryo and diaby providing further cover.
One more siging in the holding midfield a better keeper than fabianski and mannone a better right back than sagna and a better cb than djourou and we are good to go. So
    1. Fabregas
    2. Villa
    3. Rami
    4. Capoue
    5. Piczceck
    6. Cesar

    Out
    1. Chamakh
    2. Santos
    3. Park
    4. Denilson
    5. Bendtner
    6. Mannone or Fabianski

That is all that needs to change

It’s been too long since we bought ‘mature’ PROVEN quality that it appears many supporters on this site don’t recognise it anymore and have been successfully brain washed by the Gunners board to want young unproven potential.I would rather have a team of 30 year old winners than a team of unproven 22 year olds who we develop (while winning FA) and then declare their DNA lies elsewhere

That’s true come to think of it I don’t think I’ve witness the signing of a well known & proven player in my years as an Arsenal fan. A player like Villa, if fit, can only strengthen & add quality to our team.

This could be a good signing , remember larsson at united? They needed that experienced player to get them back on tracks whilst ronaldo and rooney were still a little raw.

We may be fooled by Villa’s performances of late. Perhaps he has been playing with his ‘handbrakes’ as Wenger would put it. His performances may be related to his lack of harmony with his team mates. He’s a proven out and out strikes and a change of environment may spur his natural instinct. He’s potentially on a 15 to 20 goal season at Arsenal. May not be as sensational as RVP but has the goods to prove doubters wrong.
