Napoli eye up Arsenal winger

|

Theo WalcottTheo Walcott has emerged as a shock transfer target for Napoli, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian publication suggest new Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is a keen admirer of the 24-year-old and was linked with the speedy winger when he was in charge of Liverpool several years ago, and recently tracked the England international whilst he was interim manager of Chelsea this season.

Edinson Cavani looks set lo leave the Naples club, with Chelsea and Manchester City showing an interest, and Benitez has targeted Walcott as a potential suitor.

Walcott had one of his better campaigns for The Gunners this season, contributing 21 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions and earlier in the year signed a new lucrative deal which will keep him at The Emirates until 2016.

Despite wanting to play more games for Arsenal as a centre-forward, I simply cannot see Theo considering a move away from the club this summer, especially after signing a new deal and getting more time in his favoured position in the latter part of the campaign.

Walcott would probably struggle slightly against uber defensive Italian sides and anyway he’d be better off staying with us at least until after the world cup.I have a funny feeling that next season is going to be a good one for arsenal
