‘We never said he is not for sale’

|

El ShaarawyArsene Wenger will be pleased to hear that AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy could be sold this summer.

Wenger expressed his admiration for the 20-year-old in the last transfer window but nothing came of it.

El Shaarawy, who scored 19 goals for Milan in a total of 48 appearances last season, is regarded as one of the brightest young talents currently operating in Italy.

As well as Arsenal, Napoli and Manchester City have also been linked with the Italian international, and Milan vice-president recently claimed he is yet to receive any offer for El Shaarawy’s services. But he put interested clubs on red alert by saying the player is not indispensable:

‘We never said he is not for sale.

‘Napoli? Ask their president Aurelio De Laurentiis.’

Known for his technical ability, pace and mobility, El Shaarawy is undoubtedly Milan’s key player and despite interest in the forward, he still has five years left to run on his contract which he extended at the end of February.

And for that reason alone, we might as well forget about him and look elsewhere.
