Why I can’t see Arsenal pulling this transfer off

|

MIf you thought Wayne Rooney to Arsenal this summer was farcical, wait ‘til you read this one. The Gunners are ready to launch a £26 million bid in order to land Bayern Munich forward Mario Gomez! This is according to Kick Socca.

Apparently, Pep Guardiola has told the German international that he does not feature in his future plans next season and the striker is ready to leave the Allianz Arena to join Arsenal. Really?

Gomez has recently sold his house in Munich in preparation for a summer transfer away from the German giants, and it is understood Arsenal are ready to splash out a hefty £26 million for the 27-year-old at the end of the season.

I can’t believe this for a second. I can see Wenger splashing the cash this summer, as he finally has some in his pocket (yeah right!).

But £26 million for Gomez? I just can’t see it happening. Not because we can’t afford his transfer fee, because we can. We’re rich! But because he will want at least £125k-a-week, and the club will not want to damage their wage bill structure. Plus, when has Wenger splashed out that amount on one player? Never. And I can’t see him doing it this summer.

Gomez would be an excellent signing, as he is a finisher. A poacher. Something we need at the club. But with Chelsea and Manchester City reportedly eyeing up a move for the German, we will be blown out of the water in terms of offering him a better wage package than the other two clubs.

Just can’t see this one happening, I’m afraid.

Gomez is marginally better than bendtner who would cost us half the wages and no fee. I’m sorry but we need a striker that is at the top of his game which means in the englush league there is only rvp. In spain we are Spain wr are talking messi ronaldo falcao in italy cavani and in germany lewandowski. If we can’t get one of those 6 we are looking in the 2nd tier which includes probably double that amount the likes of higuain benzema rooney and villa but my fear is we are shopping in the 3rd tier which includes the likes of jovetic dzeko bony remy etc

I think it a very good signing if arsenal are able to complete the deal.

While i think gomez is a a damn site better than bendtner i dont think he is what we need. playing with an orthodox striker suffocates our game. Its why giroud still divides opinion. he has a good work ethic, he has scored enough in his first season to sudgest he has the capability. yet we still cant make our minds up about him. We struggle creatively in front of goal when he plays. Atleast with walcott, his runs (picked out or not) open up space for midfielders to drive through.
we dont need gomez. hell i’m not even sure we need jovetic. what i do know we need is some muscle in midfield. when we purchase that i will be a happy bunny regardless of who we may, or may not buy!

Arsenal under Hillwood, Kroenke, and Wenger can’t afford to sign any player who will demand anything exceeding 100k a week even if for free agent. Rooney is just a rumours to motives you to purchase season tickets and many big names will be spread throughout the internet but only low profile players will be signed.

The only striker we can get and change Arsenal forever is………Suarez. He hs epl n champ legue xperince n is better thn evr1 @ epl can score at any angle, offer xcelent assists, drible n play th Arsenal game provided we keep him discipline. He wnts champ legue footbal even if we buy him @ £35m he is worth it cz his work rate is same as 3 players.

Gomez may be a scorer but he’s very lazy. Definately not one for us.
He’s not especially liked by the bayern fans so it wouldn’t surprise me if Pepe wanted to get rid of him. Certainly not a Wenger or a guardiola type player.
