Should Wenger make a move for this Belgian ace?

|

Christain Benteke‘If the chance comes up for me to join a club like Arsenal, I’m convinced we can reach a compromise where everyone comes out a winner.’

These are the words of Christian Benteke who says  if the right offer comes along this summer then he would think about it.

The 22-year-old signed for Villa from Genk last summer for around £7 million and hit the ground running in his first season in the Premier League.

Benteke managed to find the net 19 times in 34 Premier League appearances this season – only Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie managed to outscore the Belgium international.

Yet despite an individually impressive season for the 6’3’’ striker, and having three-years left to run on his existing deal at Villa Park, Benteke would consider his options if there was an opportunity to play for a top four club next season.

His valuation is believed to have more than trebled over the course of the season, meaning he would cost interested clubs around the £21 million mark.

But Paul Lambert believes he still has a lot to learn and should remain at Villa Park before making a hasty decision.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with a host of strikers ahead of the summer transfer window, like Gonzalo Higuain and Stevan Jovetic.

But with Benteke eager to join The Gunners, should Wenger answer the Belgian’s call?

No disrespect to the gunners as I’ve always liked you guys (old Dennis has been one of my all time fave premier league players) but I think benteke will stay for one more season, sign an extension to his current contract for another year for a lot more money then if he has another season like this one he will go to a Big money club who you guys can’t compete with money wise (man u, man city, Chelsea, barca, real, psg). Supporting a club means jack when somebody else is offering you tons more cash per week (lescott is an avid villa fan from childhood to now but that didn’t mean we have a chance of signing him).
Whoever thinks you’d get benteke for 15 mil or under is living in dreamland, IF we sold him it would be a minimum of 20 mil or 15 mil+ very good player.
As for signing Rooney and benteke LOL and I thought villa fans were deluded at times. Why on earth would Rooney go from the 20time champions to the “won bugger all” for as long as I can remember (again, no disrespect meant but its true)?
But lets say Rooney takes a blow to the head and joins u. Rooney is going to cost in excess of 25-30mil and want 200-250k a week, benteke 20-25million and 70k+ a week. I somehow doubt your going to blow 50-60million on just a new frontline. Wenger will go for some young French starlets to mould into the arsenal way of playing and pick up a couple of premier bedded in players (michu?).
Now moyes is charge at Man U I think it hinges on Rooney as to where benteke goes, moyes likes his forwards big and strong like benteke and with benteke able to score more than his fair share but also drop the headers down for rvp then if Rooney goes I can see moyes using the money for be benteke
