Should Arsenal approach this unwanted Real Madrid ace?

|

Gonzalo HiguainWell this particular piece of news may put have a few Arsenal fans on alert as Gonzalo Higuain is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, according to general manager Jose Angel Sanchez.

The 25-year-old striker, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past, has had a decent season with Jose Mourinho’s side, making 23 La Liga appearances (16 starts) so far and finding the net 13 times.

However, it seems Karim Benzema is preferred to the Argentine forward, and it looks like his six-years spell at the Bernabeu is about to come to an end.

Quoted on Skysports.com, Sanchez reportedly told French publication L’Equipe that Benzema is likely to stay and Higuain will leave the club in the summer:

‘In a great club like real, we believe we need two number nines of a high level.

‘We have Benzema and Higuain, Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come.’

Higuain still has three-years left to run on his existing deal and if he is put on the market as Sanchez has indicated, then the Argentina international will cost a few bob – possibly in the region of £25 million!

I know a lot of Arsenal fans would love to see him arrive at The Emirates, but I don’t think he’s the same player he was a few years ago. From what I’ve seen of him this season, Higuain looks sluggish and his work-rate is not up to par. Granted, he can score goals. But I believe there are better options out there for the money he will possibly cost us.

If this was three years ago then I would be all for it, but I think it would be best for us to steer clear of him this summer.

Should Arsenal make an approach for Higuain at the end of the season?

Definately arsenal shd be looking at such proven players if we are to win any title. This business of entertaining mediocre forwards shd stop, we are a top club which should be challenging for glory every season other than fighting for places.
