Redknapp admits Arsenal target could leave QPR in the summer

|

Loic RemyHarry Redknapp recently admitted that it will be hard to hang on to Loic Remy if QPR are relegated from the Premier League, which will undoubtedly reinforce Arsenal’s chances of signing the French striker in the summer.

Remy, who arrived from Marseille in January, has hit five goals in nine appearances for The Hoops and has been one of their better performers in their fight for survival.

However, despite his contribution to the cause, Redknapp’s side still find themselves in the drop zone in 19th place, 10 points adrift of 17th placed Aston Villa. And Redknapp reckons Remy will only be at Loftus Road next season if his side avoid the drop.

Quoted in the Metro, Redknapp said:

‘I would have thought it would be hard to hang on to Remy. He was someone we were chasing when I was at Spurs.

‘Every goal he has scored here has been a fantastic goal.

‘Over the season he would get you 20 goals in the Premier League. And a 20-goal-a-year man is going to be hard to hang on to.

‘We have to make sure we stay up if we want to keep him. That’s the key, although I haven’t discussed it with him or the owners.’

The 26-year-old forward apparently has an £8 million release clause in his contract and Arsenal have been monitoring his situation in recent weeks, with reports suggesting Arsene Wenger is ready to bring in the France international at the end of the season to reinforce his striking force.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Remy sport the Arsenal shirt next season and for £8 million or so it would certainly be regarded as a bargain buy by the club.
