Real Betis interested in unwanted Gunner

|

Marouane ChamakhReal Betis are weighing up a summer move for Arsenal misfit Marouane Chamakh – yes, he’s still on our books people!

The 29-year-old Moroccan is not in Arsene Wenger’s plans anymore hence his loan move to West Ham in January until the end of the season.

However, Chamakh is not exactly shining at The Hammers either, making just three appearances for Sam Allardyce’s side.

But reports in Spain, as reported by talkSPORT.com, now claim Betis are keen on the striker.

The La Liga outfit want to strengthen their attack and have pinpointed Chamakh, whose current contract at Arsenal has less than 18 months left to run, as an ideal candidate for the job (why I don’t know) with the striker’s future at Arsenal seemingly over.

It would be great to get Chamakh off our books as he is no longer considered in Wenger’s first-team plans and isn’t exactly seen as a prolific striker by many, if not all of the Arsenal faithful.

He did start off his Arsenal career well enough but only managed to find the net just the once in 18 appearances in all competition last season. Even before he joined West Ham in January, Chamakh spent most of his time as a spectator from the bench.

Whatever we can get for him would be regarded as superb business as we signed him on a free from Bordeaux almost three years ago.
