Arsenal currently sit fifth in the Premier League, five points behind Chelsea and seven adrift of Spurs who sit in fourth and third respectively, with 10 matches left to play and a game in hand.
Arsene Wenger has guided the north London club to Champions League qualification in the past 15 consecutive seasons, but Wilson claims the Frenchman’s European record could end this season.
The 71-year-old former Scotland international told talkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs Show:
‘Arsenal are right up against it. If you were a betting man you would not back them to finish in the top four this season.
‘They’ve got a lot to do to get into that top four.
‘The performance [against Bayern Munich] is a massive fillip for them though. To beat a team that are on the top of their game, haven’t lost at home in ages and have great individuals will be a huge boost to their morale.’
There is no doubt that we are up against it, as Wilson suggests. The Pressure is on Wenger and the player’s to produce the goods.
But I truly believe we will finish in the top four, especially when you look out our remaining fixtures. And if the team can pull out performances like they did against Bayern on Wednesday night, from now until the end of the season, then we will be playing Champions League football next season.
